Skipped At The Altar, Taken By His Uncle novel Chapter 172

Chapter 172

Whitney didn’t wake up until the afternoon the next day.

As she was passing out last night, barely conscious, one last thou sed her mind

‘Klein’s got such a big appetite.. If I really go abroad for school, he’s bound to mess around behind my back, Whitney thought.

“You’re awake?” Klein said, his voice low in her ear.

Whitney felt his lips, warm and damp, against her neck. Instinctively, she smacked him with the back of her hand.

“Quit messing around. I’m starving,” she grumbled.

Klein took the slap on his left cheek. He went quiet for a second, and then took a deep breath. “That’s domestic violence.”

Whitney huffed, “Seriously? You call that domestic violence?”

“I’m starving! You said we’d watch a movie, but look at the time. Last night I begged you, and you just kept sweet-talking me, over and over. Klein, you’re such a liar!” Whitney grumbled.

Klein let out a chuckle. He had to admit he was. He was totally hooked on what happened last night.

Besides, with all the overtime Whitney had been working lately, they had barely had any time for sex.

He had been craving her, plain and simple.

“Baby, don’t make me wait this long next time, alright? I can’t handle it,” Klein said, his voice low and teasing.

‘With self-control like that, and he still talks about having kids? Whitney thought, a little disappointed.

Whitney mumbled, half whining, “Go get me something to eat.

“Your wish is my command,” Klein said with a playful grin.

Whitney spent nearly two hours in the bathroom freshening up. When she finally came out, there was a whole feast laid out on the table waiting for her.

She was seriously starving. Sex really drained her energy.

Klein watched with a faint smile as Whitney devoured everything on the table, keeping eating until it was all gone. He couldn’t help but reach out and pat her belly.

“It’s all puffed up,” he teased.

“That’s just how it is for us girls. Once I digest, it’ll be flat again,” Whitney replied.

Klein kept poking at her soft, squishy tummy, his gaze growing more heated with every touch.

“Are you stuffed?” he asked.

Whitney couldn’t help but squint with satisfaction, her eyes narrowed from being so full. “Yeah, I’m stuffed. I need to go out and walk it off.”

When Gina saw the report card inside, she was stunned.

Her first thought was, Ts Whitney really leaving?

She graded the report card and hurried over to Hector’s office.

Look at this! I she really leaving Prime Bridge?” Gina blurted out.

Hector glanced at it. How did you get this?”

When his eyes landed on the package in her hand, he instantly understood. Are you out of your mind? You can’t just open someone else’s package. That’s a privacy violation! You’re a lawyer. Don’t break the law yourself?”

Gina scoffed. “The receptionist messed up and gave it to me. How is that my fault? Privacy? Please, it’s no big deal.”

“Come on, tell me. Is there any gossip that she’s leaving the firm?” Gina pressed.

This was huge for her.

If Whitney left, that non-equity partnership spot would be hers for the taking.

Why is she just hogging that spot and not even doing anything with it?’ Gina muttered.

Hector shook his heard and said, “It doesn’t necessarily mean she’s leaving PrimeBridge. She could just be taking a leave of aber nice to go study abroad. That’s pretty common in our field, isn’t it?”

this was mine and opened it by mistake. Turns out it for Ms. Moure Can you give it to her?

Luna looked a little awkward. “Uh, sure”

Whitney had already gotten her digital report card. Just like she predicted, she scored 10 points. She total

She knew she’d have to hash things out with Klein about her study abroad plans pretty soon

“Ms. Moore, I’m really sorry. I accidentally gave your package to Ms. Parsons, and she opened it witho becking the tatt Luna said, looking flustered.

I’m so sorry, Ms. Moore. I’ll make sure to double-check next time.” Luna added quickly.

Whitney glanced at the torn-open package and just smiled. She’d wanted it sent home at Erst, but figured Klein would probably open it out of curiosity, so she had it sent to the office instead

Guess it still ended up getting opened anyway.

“It’s fine, Luna. Seriously, it’s okay. I’m not mad,” Whitney said.

Luna looked relieved. “Okay, looks like it’s something private. Sorry!”

“No worries. Go ahead and get back to work.” Whitney said.

Whitney pulled out the report card and frowned at the pretty deep creases on it. Someone must’ve been looking at my scores for quite a while,’ she thought.

She took the report card and headed into Ivan’s office.

Ivan looked up. “Wait, Gina saw your scores?”

“She really is something…” He shook his head. “Doesn’t matter. So what if she knows? By the way, I’ve got a little surprise for

you.”

Whitney’s curiosity got the better of her. When she saw Ivan holding out two recommendation letters, she got emotional

Her eyes instantly filled with tears. “Boss, you…

“One of them is from PrimeBridge. I had Townsend write it for you. He said if you want to go study, he’s got your back. You’ll get a leave of absence, no pay, but your non-equity partner spot stays put. I also told him to keep quiet until you make your final call,” Ivan said with a reassuring smile.

“The other one is from my mentor, Professor Cooper. He’s a big deal and used to teach abroad before coming back here His recommendation really means something.” Ivan added.
