Chapter 178

Klein didn’t waste any time. He called his dad and George, letting them know George would be running the company for the

next six months.

Ryan, his assistant, would help George handling things smoothly.

Six months wasn’t going to change much anyway.

Then he asked Martin to ship over some of his personal belongings.

He was set on staying here for the next six months.

He just couldn’t rest easy with his wife all by herself here.

Then he went straight to Whitney’s roommate and told her he’d pay Whitney’s share of the rent, but Whitney wouldn’t be moving back in.

Her roommate couldn’t help but think, ‘Whitney’s husband is really decisive and generous.

But Whitney, still fast asleep, had no idea any of this was going on.

It only took Klein two hours to get everything sorted.

Whitney’s roommate showed up at the hospital with a big pot of chicken soup. “Mr. Harris, here’s the soup you asked for. There aren’t many good restaurants around here, but this one’s the best in the neighborhood.”

Klein had already given her a generous gift when they met. He stood up and thanked her again, “Thanks a lot. I really didn’t have time to bring anyone else.”

Whitney’s roommate waved it off. “It’s no big deal, really. Besides, Mr. Harris, you already gave me such a generous gift.”

What he gave her was enough to cover her tuition for the whole semester.

When Whitney woke up and saw the chair next to her was empty, she pouted in disappointment.

‘Well,’ she thought to herself. ‘It really was just a dream.

Just then, the door opened, and the man she thought she’d only met in her dreams appeared before her once more.

Her eyebrows shot up. “You really came!”

Klein took his time, pulling out the thermos and carefully ladling out the soup before sitting down by her bedside.

“What, you thought I was a ghost or something?” he teased.

He blew on the hot soup. “Here, drink this. It’ll help you get better.”

Whitney sipped the soup slowly, and she couldn’t help but let out a giggle.

It was only now, after being apart for so long, that she truly realized just how much she needed him.

“Klein, when are you going back?” Whitney asked with a frown.

“I’ll tell you later. Just focus on your soup for now,” Klein replied.

Seeing him keep her in suspense, Whitney didn’t push it.

If he didn’t want to talk, it didn’t matter how much she asked. He wouldn’t say a word.

He was just impossible to pry secrets from.

Klein didn’t go anywhere in the next few days. He just crashed in the ward with Whitney, sticking by her side every nigh

By the third day, Whitney finally bounced back, feeling alive and full of energy again.

Whitney sighed, “I really need to get back to class. I’ve missed all my professor’s lectures these days, and that final paper is seriously going to kill me.”

But when Klein brought her to a villa, Whitney froze for a second. “You can’t get used to my apartment? Bat…”

You’ve only been here a few days and you already went and bought a huge villa? Isn’t that kind of over the top? she thought.

But when Whitney saw that all her personal stuff had been moved over, down to the last detail, she was completely floored

“Why’d you move all my stuff here?” she blinked, still trying to process it all

Klein shrugged off his coat and hung it up. “Your husband will be living here now. Not moving in with me? Or are you planning on us living in different places in the same city?”

Whitney took a moment to process, and then her eyes lit up with surprise.

“Same city? You… you’re really staying for the next six months?” she asked, her voice trembling with excitement.

Her heart thudded in her chest as she waited for his answer.

“Yeah,” Klein shrugged, “what can I say? My wife turns into a helpless mess whenever I’m not around.”

Even though he was teasing her, Whitney was so happy she just clung to him.

She was so excited she couldn’t help but peck his lips. “For real?”

Klein kissed her back, his voice full of affection. “Really. I’m done fighting myself. You won.”

In this tug-of-war of love, he finally gave in.

He couldn’t take it anymore. Those six months apart had nearly driven him out of his mind.

Whitney was at a loss for words, so she let her actions do the talking, pouring all her feelings into the moment.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, and they kissed deeply, holding each other tight.

It was only in this moment that Whitney finally felt completely at peace.

Back in the country, Emily stared at her child with nothing but contempt.

This was a child her parents spoiled rotten, but all she felt was pure disgust.

Sometimes, she didn’t even want to spare the child a glance.

“Mrs. Harris, the baby wants to nurse,” the nanny said quietly.

Emily waved her hand, sounding bored. “Just give him formula. I’m done.”

The nanny kept quiet, even though she knew Emily had always had plenty of milk. ‘How could she suddenly be out?’ she

wondered, but didn’t dare ask

“The Harris family’s first great-grandchild, and he gets treated like this, the nanny thought feeling sorry for the baby

She didn’t understand it, but just accepted it and moved on.

That was just how it was with rich wives. They were all so high-maintenance and acted like royalty

When Emily found out Uncle Klein had actually flown abroad and was sticking around for six whole months just to keep that annoying Whitney company, she was fuming.

Meanwhile, when she looked at her own life, the difference was painfully obvious.

Carter wasn’t around when she was pregnant.

He wasn’t there for the birth, either.

Now the baby was a month old, and Carter was still absent.

Since the baby was born, Carter had barely called. She could literally count the calls on one hand.

Emily, fuming, knocked the glass off the nightstand, and it shattered on the floor.

The loud crash made the baby in the cradle burst into tears.

The nanny, at a loss, rushed over and picked him up, cooing softly, “Shh, it’s okay. Be brave, baby. Don’t cry.”

Sabrina poked her head in from the hallway, “Hey, what’s all that noise?”

Her eyes immediately landed on the shattered glass scattered across the floor.

Emily didn’t miss a beat, tossing the blame straight at Linda. “Seriously, Linda? You can’t even handle something this basic? Look at this mess. You dropped the glass and scared the baby half to death!”

The nanny was totally blindsided by the accusation. Seeing Emily’s harsh glare, she didn’t dare speak up, terrified her family might get dragged into trouble if she did.

So she just swallowed her pride and took the fall. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Harris. It was my fault. I must’ve dropped it by accident.”
