Chapter 180
Chapter 180
Whitney forced a smile and said. “The baby is very cute.”
“Did you pick a name for him?” she asked absentmindedly.
ST
Sabrina looked proud. “Yeah, Dad picked it himself. His full name is Kyson Harris. Dad said he hopes Kyson will be smart. lively, and strong-willed. Emily came up with the nickname, Cupcake.”
Whitney’s mouth twitched. “That’s nice. Sabrina, let’s head downstairs. The maid said dinner’s almost ready
A smirk of disdain crossed Sabrina’s face.
She just knew Whitney wouldn’t care for her grandson.
She was already a grandma, while Whitney still had nothing to show for it
‘Who knows if Whitney will ever have a kid?” she thought.
Sabrina was hoping Whitney would stay childless, so her own grandson would have the Harris Group all to himself.
James looked at Whitney with anticipation. “Whit, have you seen Cupcake? That kid’s got some heft to him. I wanted to call him Chubbs, but they insisted on Cupcake.”
With that build, Chubbs would’ve been a better fit than Cupcake.
Whitney smiled. “Yeah, I saw him. He’s really cute. He almost looks biracial.”
“Biracial?” James repeated with a chuckle.
He’d heard that one before.
Even the maids had said that it was hard not to see the resemblance.
But there was no foreign blood in their family. They were as local as could be.
“Biracial? Nonsense! The kid just has strong features, that’s all. His eyes are still dark, aren’t they?” James said, waving it off.
Sabrina thought Whitney was trying to stir up drama and shot her a dirty look.
Klein looked up calmly, his voice calm. “Sabrina, it’s just talk. Why are you/so worked up? She’s just saying Carter’s boy is good-looking. Nobody’s saying he’s not Carter’s kid.”
No one expected that Klein’s casual words would end up being prophetic.
Sabrina was fuming secretly. ‘Why do they always have to ruin the mood as soon as they walk in?’ she thought.
George frowned and shot Sabrina a look. “Alright, that’s enough.”
George chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. “Well, Whitney, how was studying abroad? I heard you got sick while you were there. Must’ve been rough, huh?”
Whitney played along. “Yeah, the weather and the food took some getting used to, but everything else was pretty good.”
“Home is always the best. Thanks for being so understanding, Dad. Sorry I made you worry.”
Sabrina scoffed to herself, ‘What a brown-noser. There she goes again, trying to get on James’s good side.

James was all smiles, clearly in a great mood.

“No need for all these thank-yous. We’re family. Come on, let’s eat, I had the chef make all your favorite dishes, so dig in! After dinner, you and Klein should head home and get some rest.”
“Lena, make sure you eat too,” he added.
Lena had just reached for the plate of spicy chicken when James tapped his fork.
“Go for something less spicy, okay? You’re about to have the baby, and too much spice isn’t good for you,” he said.
Dustin, being a doctor, knew that pregnant women could actually eat pretty much anything.
As long as they didn’t go overboard.
“It’s really okay, Grandpa. I asked my OB-GYN, and a little bit is fine,” Lena said.
With someone sticking up for her, Lena finally managed to snatch the spicy chicken she’d been craving.
‘Spicy food’s the only way to go, Lena thought to herself.
Whitney couldn’t help but recall how Lena had never been so into spicy food before.
‘It’s said that a pregnant woman craving spicy food indicates it’s a girl,’ Whitney mused.

Klein headed to the study, while Whitney hung out with Lena in the yard, chatting.
“Whit, I know what Grandpa called Uncle Klein upstairs for,” Lena said.
Whitney was curious. “What was it about?”
“Well, George and Sabrina have been scheming to bring this up ever since you guys got back. They just want Carter to come home,” Lena said.
“Let me tell you a secret. I honestly don’t think Emily cares about her kid at all. I never noticed before, but now that I’m pregnant myself, it’s so obvious. She just doesn’t love him,” Lena whispered.
Whitney frowned. “Lena, why do you think that?”
Lena pursed her lips and said, “Hear me out. When Cupcake was born, Emily barely looked happy. Then, not long after, she quit breastfeeding. I mean, I get it. Sometimes you have to stop breastfeeding, but ditching your baby to run off to Arantica? I just can’t wrap my head around that.”
“If it were me, I wouldn’t care where Dustin went. I’d stick with my kid no matter what! You only get it once you’re a mom. If you really love your child, how could you just leave him here alone? And Emily doesn’t even bother to call every day. If it were me, even if I was halfway across the world, I’d be video chatting with my kid every single day!”
After hearing Lena break it down like that, Whitney had to admit it made a lot of sense.
Whitney had never been a mother herself, but she’d seen plenty of those clips about mothers online.
The greatness of a mother’s love is truly beyond words.
“Maybe she’s just trying too hard to win his heart,” Whitney said softly.
But sometimes, the harder you try to hold on, the more it slips away.

Klein stepped out of his father’s study and caught Dustin zoning out in the distance.
He gave Dustin a playful kick. “What are you staring at my wife for?”
Dustin rolled his eyes. “Who’s looking at your wife? I’m looking at my wife!”
Klein was just messing around. “Hey, what do you usually eat?”
Dustin shot him a suspicious look. “Why do you care about my eating habits, Klein? I’m straight, man, my wife’s the only one for me.”
Klein gritted his teeth. “Who’s talking about that? I’m asking about your diet. Didn’t you say you were sure you’d have a daughter? So what exactly have you been eating?”
“Oh, right,” Dustin finally realized.
He grinned wide. “Wait, Klein, you want a daughter too? Seriously, daughters are awesome. Those little princesses, all pink and sweet. How can you not love them?”
“Just get to the point!” Klein snapped.
“Just eat more alkaline foods, things like seaweed, potatoes, and carrots. For fruit, stick with apples, grapes, prunes, stuff like that,” Dustin said.
“Don’t use too much stainless steel or plastic for your utensils. And when you shower, keep the water warm, not too hot, and definitely skip the hot springs,” he added.
“Get Whitney to eat more egg yolks, ham, chicken, peanuts, you know, that kind of stuff. Spinach and broccoli work too. Klein, just Google it yourself,” Dustin said.
Klein frowned. ‘That’s a lot, man.’
“Just send me a list tomorrow,” Klein said.
