Skipped At The Altar, Taken By His Uncle novel Chapter 190

Chapter 190

Joanne had booked her flight out a week ago.

Whitney couldn’t bear to see her leave. “Joanne, are you really going?”

She shoved her phone in Joanne’s face, showing her chat with Oliver.

“He was going to propose to you on the day you leave. Should I tell him?”

Whitney was torn. She could tell Oliver was dead serious about this proposal. He had kept pestering her for details abou Joanne’s preferences.

He even asked ahead of time what color of roses she liked.

Joanne spoke with a heavy heart, “It’s too late now, Whitney. Back when I was with him, there was a time I really wanted marry him. Even though my chances to act were limited, and he kept telling me what I could and couldn’t do, I just wen along with it and never complained.”

“But then I realized, that wasn’t the life I wanted. I kept sacrificing my own happiness just to make him happy, always pu him on a pedestal. When I found out his family was setting him up with someone else, I was up all night, unable to sleep

“That night, I finally realized that I wasn’t going to keep sacrificing myself for someone else’s happiness anymore.”

Whitney understood. Everyone had those moments when they felt lost and uncertain, and maybe even fell for someone who was just not right for them.

No matter how hard others tried to talk sense into them, or even yell at them, sometimes they just couldn’t snap out of it.

Some people would never wake up, but for others, it would just take one unexpected moment to lose all those feelings an see things for what they were.

Once they finally saw things clearly, there was no going back.

Whitney gave her a hug and said, “As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters. Don’t forget to keep in touch with us afte you leave. Are you staying in Ravorport before you leave?”

“No, I’ve still got two more variety shows and a few commercial events to do. I agreed to them before I planned to leave, so have to finish them all.”

Whitney looked a little disappointed. “Alright, so when are you coming back to Ravorport?”

“Next Wednesday. I’m leaving on Friday, so I can hang out with you guys for a couple of days.”

“Lena’s pregnant right now. Otherwise, the three of us could totally go out and have some fun

“Let’s catch up when you get back

After hanging up. Whitney couldn’t help but ask Klein. “Do you know about Oliver wanting to propose?”

Klein glanced up and gave a nod Yeah. I know

Oliver had been blowing up the group chat lately, and Klein was so fed up he just muted it so he wouldn’t have to deal with

the notifications.

“Oh, if just saying if, your buddy’s proposal flops, do you think he’ll be bummed?”

Klain’s eves litun “Wait are you saving it’s defnitely gonna fail?”

Whitney stared at him. “Aren’t you good friends?”

“Why are you so excited about him failing?”

Klein put on a wounded look. “How could I?”

“Am I that kind of person?”

He looked totally excited.

Klein tried to reassure her, “Don’t worry about it. Honestly, letting Oliver learn the hard way might do him some good. always been a breeze for him. He’s never really had to deal with any setbacks.”

Whitney’s mouth twitched. “If you say so.” she said.

Wednesday came around fast. For the next two nights, Lena and Joanne would be staying over at, Whitney’s place.

Worried they might feel uncomfortable, Whitney even sent Klein packing to crash at Dustin’s for a couple nights.

Dustin pulled out a bottle of his prized booze. “Klein, want a drink?”

Klein shook his head. “I told you, I’m trying for a daughter. Why are you always messing with me?”

Dustin pouted. “Fine, more for me then.”

It was rare for his wife to be out of the house, so he figured he might as well enjoy a drink.

Dustin’s phone wouldn’t stop buzzing. Klein, getting annoyed, nudged him with his foot. “Can you put your phone on silen or something? It’s way too loud.”

“Man, you have no idea how much Oliver’s been bugging us. His whole proposal drama is driving everyone nuts. Klein, did you mute or block the group chat?”

Klein snorted. “Not just muted. I blocked the whole thing so I wouldn’t even have to look at it.”

Dustin followed him and blocked the chat too, and finally, his phone was blissfully quiet.

“Why does he always have to go all out with everything? He said he was going to keep the proposal low-key, but I bet his girlfriend already caught on.”

Not his girlfriend.”

Dustin had only had one drink, but was he hearing things?

“Huh? What did you just say?”

Klein said with a simile, She’s not even his gulfriend yet He’s got the wrong idea”

Dustin was speechless

“Then why is he even proposing tomorrow?”

Klein shrugged “Maybe his proposal is going nowhere.”

He didn’t think he should tell others the truth.

Oliver could barely contain his excitement.

He’d booked the venue way in advance, personally overseeing every little detail to make sure it was just right.

He stared at the custom-made engagement ring, snapped a photo, and sent it to the group chat.

“Guys, you think she’ll like it?”

The other three didn’t say a word.

The two who’d already muted the group chat didn’t even see it, and Eric, who did, just couldn’t be bothered to reply

anymore.

Getting no reply, Oliver started blowing up Whitney’s phone instead.

Too bad Whitney was swamped and didn’t check her messages until later that afternoon.

She held up her phone to Joanne. “Look, this is what he’s going to give you.”

Joanne just glanced at it, unfazed. “Yeah, it’s pretty.”

But that’s all it was. Just pretty, nothing more.

Whitney drove Joanne to the airport. At first, they didn’t want Lena tagging along, but Lena insisted. So in the end. they ju let her come too.

“Joanne, don’t forget to call us when you get there,” Whitney reminded her.

“Yeah, and try to call at least once a week! Don’t you dare forget about us!” Lena chimed in.

Joanne couldn’t help but laugh, “I won’t.”

Meanwhile, Oliver was waiting at the place he’d set up for the proposal, trying to call Joanne, but her phone just wouldn’t connect no matter how many times he tried.

He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.

Hey Klein, give Whitney a call and see what’s up, will you?” he said.

Klein decided to drop the truth on him. “They’re probably at the airport right now.”

Oliver dropped the ring box, letting it crash to the floor

Oliver’s voice cracked “What airport? Where are they going?”
