Chapter 66
Whitney was lying in her apartment after work when her phone rang with his call.
The first time it rang, she didn’t pick up. After what had happened between them yesterday–how intimate they’d been–she wasn’t ready to see him. She had no idea how to face him.
Then the doorbell rang.
Whitney froze. ‘Who

Whitney said, “Sorry, I forgot. Come in.”
Klein slipped off his shoes and stepped inside barefoot, and Whitney remembered he’d done the same thing last time he visited.
“I’m sorry, I don’t have men’s slippers. I’ll buy some tomorrow.”
It’s pretty awkward making him go barefoot every time he comes over, she thought.

Klein had just gotten off the elevator, and his voice came through lazy and unhurried. “Oh yeah, I forgot about those. I’m already in my car now though, so I’ll just grab them next time.”
Before she could respond, he hung up.
Whitney frowned, confused. ‘Couldn’t he just pick them up this weekend?‘ she thought.
