Chapter 94 You Started It
“Ms., these are our latest platinum couple rings. They’re simple and elegant. While diamond rings are beautiful, you’ll `probably wear these more often. Would you like me to wrap them up for you?” the salesperson asked.
Whitney glanced at the sparkling couple rings on the tray and checked the price. Not bad at all.
‘He’d probably like it if I gave it to him as a gift, right?’ Whitney wondered.
After all, he’d always looked out for her, and had to deal with all that trouble over the company shares because of her. Getting him a gift just made sense.
Besides, she’d get to wear the other ring herself.
“Wrap them up for me please!” Whitney said.
Whitney was just about to pay with her phone when she suddenly heard a voice with a hint of sarcasm from behind. ” Whitney, you’re here too.”
Whitney frowned slightly. She didn’t even bother to turn around, and just kept her eyes on the salesperson. “Just ring me up.” she said.
Emily stuck to her like a leech. “Whitney, what are you buying? Oh, rings! Are you getting married?”
She put on a show of surprise.
Honestly, she was a little surprised.
Last time, she’d seen Whitney with a married man when she was with Tina. So now, was Whitney really trying to upgrade her status and use a ring to tie the man down?
With that thought, whatever feelings Emily had about shopping for a ring alone instantly disappeared.
Whitney glanced at her phone, held up her payment code for the salesperson to scan, and saw a notification pop up. [ Payment of 7,000 dollars successful.]
Emily’s grin got even bigger.
“Whitney, aren’t you worried your boyfriend will be mad if you buy him something this cheap?” Emily teased.
“Well, I’m out shopping for wedding rings with Carter today. If I bought something this cheap like you, he’d definitely be pissed,” Emily said, her voice full of mockery.
The salesperson was honestly gettin killing the vibe for sales.

Seeing Whitney ignoring her, Emily turned up the pettiness and continued, “Whitney, are you still mad? I know you still have a thing for Carter. Guys like him are hard to come by these days. But seriously, you shouldn’t lower yourself like this. Being the side chick is just embarrassing.”
The salesperson’s eyes widened. ‘Wait, the side chick?’
‘Seriously? This stunning, elegant woman is a side chick?’ the salesperson thought, totally thrown.
Whitney grabbed the bag from the salesperson, swung her hand and smacked Emily right across the face.
She looked fed up, and said, “Are you done yet?”
Emily gaped at her, stunned, “You hit me?”
‘How dare she hit me?’ Emily seethed.
Whitney curled her lips and rolled her eyes. “I hit you, so what? You want me to schedule it next time?” she snorted.
With Carter nowhere around, Emily dropped the act. She clutched her face and tried to strike back.
Whitney gave her a cold look, grabbed her hand, and slapped her left cheek.
Then Whitney smiled slyly and said, “Perfect, now both sides match.”
“I’m calling the cops! I’m gonna make sure you lose your law license, Whitney!” Emily yelled, her voice shaking with anger.
hitney smirked, her tone cold, “Go ahead, call the cops. Get yourself checked out. If it’s actually serious, then come talk to I recorded everything you said, and there are cameras with audio in here. So let’s see if you can prove I broke the law,

The salesperson barely held back a snicker. “Miss, need me to call 911 for you?”
“Call the cops? What, are you nuts?” Emily shot back.
Emily stomped off, still fuming.
Whitney didn’t let that little drama bother her at all.
She put the gift on the dining table, but then thought it looked a bit too casual. So she picked it up and set it on Klein’s nightstand instead.
Once she was satisfied with how it looked, she left, feeling pretty pleased with herself.
Klein had already canceled on Mr. Todd yesterday, so there was no way he could ditch Mr. Todd again today.
“Mr. Harris, you really did me dirty yesterday. I even got permission from my family, and you still blew me off!” Mr. Todd griped.
Klein said with a smile, “Sorry, Mr. Todd. My wife’s got me on a tight leash. Hope you understand.”
Mr. Todd froze for a second. “Wait, Mr. Harris, you’re married?” he asked in surprise.
‘When did that happen? How did I miss all the gossip?’ Mr. Todd wondered, totally caught off guard.
Klein nodded and said with a smile, “Yeah, just got married not long ago. The wedding’s still being planned. When it’s time to party, you better show up and celebrate with us.”
“You bet! Wouldn’t miss your big day for anything, Mr. Harris!” Mr. Todd replied with a grin.
Mr. Todd blinked. ‘Wow, even Mr. Harris is under his wife’s thumb!’ he thought.
In that instant, the legendary powerhouse of the business world seemed a whole lot more down-to-earth.
By the time Klein finished his business dinner and got home, it was already eleven.
Martin hadn’t dared to turn in for the night. “Mr. Harris, would you like me to make you some hangover soup?” he asked.
Klein loosened his tie with one hand and said, “No need. Has my wife gone to bed already?”
“Yes, Mr. Harris. Mrs. Harris went to her room around ten and hasn’t come out since. Oh, and it looks like she got you a gift.”
Klein’s lashes fluttered. “A gift?” he was surprised.
“Yeah, when I got back, I saw her put a box on the dining table, but then she took it to your room instead. Maybe she’ll give it to you tomorrow,” Martin said.
Klein just nodded and went straight upstairs.
He found himself standing outside Whitney’s bedroom, fighting the urge to knock and see what kind of gift she’d picked out for him.
But it was very late. With the lingering scent of alcohol on him, he didn’t want to disturb her rest.
But when Klein walked into his bedroom, he saw the gift box sitting right on his nightstand. His fingers trembled slightly as he picked it up.
He lifted the lid, and inside were a pair of matching silver rings.
A faint blush colored Klein’s cheeks, and his eyes, previously clouded by drink, instantly grew clear and focused.
He traced his thumb along the smooth silver ring, his long lashes fluttering.
A bittersweet ache welled up in his chest, only to be replaced in an instant by a warm fullness.
Klein couldn’t hold himself back anymore, no matter how hard he tried.
