Chapter 126: Chapter 126

Kael’s POV

I drove like a madman.

Red lights meant nothing. Speed limits were suggestions. Every car in my way was a personal insult from the universe.

My tires screeched as I pulled into the parking garage. I didn’t bother finding a proper spot. Just stopped the car and ran.

The lobby was busy. People everywhere. They parted like water when they saw me coming.

Good. At least they had survival instincts.

I hit the elevator button. Once. Twice. Three times. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Come ON.

The doors finally opened. I shoved inside. Jabbed the button for the executive floor.

Director Black’s office. That’s where I needed to be.

Her door was open. She was at her desk. Reading something. Looking completely unaware that my entire world was about to change.

"Director Black."

She looked up. Her eyes widened slightly.

"Alpha Blood Crown." She rose from her chair. Composed. Professional. "I wasn’t expecting you today."

"The new assistant." I stepped into her office. "The human one. Where is she?"

Her eyebrow rose. Just slightly.

"Ms. Moon?"

Moon.

The name hit me like a punch to the gut.

"Where?" The word came out rough. Desperate. "Where is she right now?"

"If she’s not at her desk..." Director Black glanced at the clock. "She should be making her daily delivery. To your office on the top floor."

Top floor.

My office.

The office I never used. The office that was always empty.

Except for the moonlight flowers.

I was running before she finished her sentence.

"Alpha!" Director Black called after me. "Is something wrong?"

I didn’t hear the rest.

The stairwell door burst open. The top floor stretched out before me.

Empty. Silent. Just like always.

I started down the hallway. Each step felt like a mile.

My office door was at the end. Closed. Just like I’d left it.

But as I got closer...

I heard something.

A soft thud. Glass against wood.

Then water. The unmistakable sound of liquid spilling across a surface.

I froze.

The flowers.

Someone had knocked over my flowers.

Anger flared in my chest. Hot and sudden.

Those flowers were MINE. The only thing in that office that mattered. The only connection I had to the scent I couldn’t stop missing.

And some clumsy assistant had just...

That face.

THAT FACE.

I knew that face. Had memorized every line. Every curve. Every detail.

Those eyes. Wide and startled. Staring at me with shock and fear and something else I couldn’t name.

Not black-gold like mine.

Silver-gray.

Like moonlight on still water.

Like the eyes that had haunted my dreams for three years.

She recognized me too.

I saw it happen. The moment she realized who I was.

Her pupils contracted. Sharp and sudden. Her breath caught in her throat. Her whole body went rigid.

For a long, endless moment, we just stared at each other.

Me standing in the doorway. Her kneeling on the floor. The moonlight flowers clutched against her chest.

Three years.

Three years of searching. Three years of hoping. Three years of slowly losing my mind.

And here she was.

Right in front of me.

Close enough to touch.

My mouth opened. My voice came out rough. Broken. Barely a whisper.

A single word. A single name. The only thing that mattered.

"Aria?"
