Sorry for Your Loss, It's Me, I'm the Loss novel Chapter 536

“As long as I’m in Istra, I’ll come and spend time with you and the baby every single day,” Vincent promised.

“You swear?” April pressed.

“Yes, yes, I swear,” Vincent said, raising his hand in a gesture of promise.

For now, he was willing to humor her. After all, they had history, and now, they had a child on the way.

Satisfied, April leaned into his embrace.

Vincent smiled and held her close, but just then, his phone vibrated.

He glanced at the caller ID, and his expression hardened. He stood up to take the call outside, but April grabbed his arm.

“It’s your wife again, isn’t it? Just go back to her. You don’t have to bother with me anymore.”

“Don’t be difficult. It’s business. I’ll be right back,” Vincent said before quickly walking out of the room.

He went into the fire escape stairwell to take the call in private.

It was Tim Walker, Vincent's distant cousin. Tim was sharp and resourceful, and he managed all of Vincent's less-than-legal enterprises.

After Colin’s death, their illicit shipments were entrusted to Tim for transport.

Tim rarely contacted Vincent directly, so a sudden call usually meant trouble.

As expected, when the call connected, Tim’s anxious voice came through. “Our latest shipment got held up at the border. Luckily, we still have some connections there, so we secured the goods, but they’re cracking down hard right now, so we can’t move them. Leaving them sitting there is a huge risk.”

Vincent paused for a moment before replying, “Contact Eden. Have him move the shipment. Now that we have the land at Riverbend, it’s time to put it to use.”
