Chapter 104 The Truth Cuts Like a Blade
They had sent Neil to “save” him, and now, Evan was denying it completely. Worse he was twisting Zeke’s intentions and accusing him to their faces
The three heiresses blew up.
“Evan, have you no shame? If it weren’t for Zeke and us, you’d be dead! Not being grateful? Okay, but how dare you question us? Why didn’t someone just finish you off?”
Not a single one of them noticed Zeke standing behind them, his face pale, panic flickering across his eyes.
He was about to lose it.
‘How does Evan know?‘ Zeke’s mind raced. ‘Did Mylo talk? Impossible.‘
In that line of work, reputation was everything. No one would ever expose the identity of the person who hired them. And Evan had no leverage to force Mylo to tell the truth.
Zeke hadn’t even been there that day. He had assumed Neil simply rescued Evan and that was the end of it.
He had no idea Mylo had nearly been beaten to death by Hugo.

Evan gave a faint smile. “If you don’t believe me, ask him. How did he know someone was trying to kill me? Why was he so desperate for you to rush over and save me? If that isn’t guilt, what is?”
His sharp gaze locked onto Zeke like a blade, cold and merciless, as if it meant to pierce straight through his heart.
Zeke was terrified. He hadn’t saved Evan out of kindness. He did it to protect himself. “Hazel… Roxanne… don’t push Evan,” he said weakly. “I don’t need him to yield. I really don’t…”
He broke into a fit of coughing, never daring to meet Evan’s eyes
“Enough, Evan!” Hazel glared at him. “There’s a limit to how shameless a person can be. Fine, you don’t want to yield? Then, donate blood to Zeke. He was critically ill and still worrying about you!”
“No discussion. You will give him your blood.”
“And you still owe our families!”
On this, the three heiresses wouldn’t budge.
They were cornered. Evan was their only option. They were never letting him walk away.
Evan let out a mocking laugh. “What, you still think things are like before?”
Deep down, he thought, ‘If you had truly saved me, maybe we could talk. Yet, the one who tried to kill me was Zeke. And you expect me to donate blood to him? In your dreams.‘
He turned to leave.
“Evan, you’re not going anywhere!”
“Take one more step and don’t ever think about coming back to us!”
“We’ll just pretend we saved a heartless guy!”
They glared at him, fury blazing.
This was their ultimate threat.
It was their ultimate threat–the one that used to work every time.

Evau suddenly laughed, though.
“Weren’t you the ones who decided I shouldn’t come back?” he said lightly. “You already signed the divorce papers. You’re the ones who told me to sign.”
He even brought up the divorce agreement like it was a receipt.
“You-”
Their eyes narrowed. Rage choked their words.
Evan glanced at the date. “Almost there. Just over half a month left.”
Then he walked out without looking back.
Hazel trembled with anger. ‘Is he hinting I should be the one to cave first? Dream on.‘
Roxanne and Anya hurried to reassure her. “Hazel, don’t listen to him. The waiting period isn’t over yet. He’s just bluffing.”
They were convinced Evan’s confidence came from the waiting period and from the fact that they still needed something from him.
But Zeke was thinking about something else entirely: his body. “Hazel… maybe you should find a chance to soften Evan a little,” he said carefully. “I don’t think he’s joking…”
He had known the truth all along.
He was even the one who had secretly destroyed Evan’s blood donation records.
Under those circumstances, how could Evan ever come back?
Yet, if Evan refused, Zeke would lose his only steady source of blood.
