Chapter 135 Caught by the Scent

“I’ll check on her when I have the time,” Evan stated with a soft sigh.

“Really?” Sylvie’s face lit up with delight. She grabbed his arm, beaming. “Evan, you’re the best! I knew you wouldn’t just stand by!”

She went on, “Aria used to take great care of me. I she becomes disfigured, I’d feet even worse than she would.”

Relief and excitement brightened her expression. She thought that the issue would be resolved now that Evan had decided to meddle. She slipped her arm through his. “Evan, let’s go home.”

The moment she said it, Evan’s expression changed. He had almost forgotten the real issue.

“Wait, Sylvie,” he blurted out. “Let’s not go home today. I’ll take you somewhere else for a few days.”

His plan was simple: Estelle wouldn’t stay long. She’d just be there for three or four days at most. If he took Sylvie on a brief trip, Estelle would be gone by the time they returned.

The problem would be resolved then, and everyone would be happy.

“Huh? Stay somewhere else?” Sylvie stared at him, startled. A flush crept up her cheeks as she murmured, “L… I’m not saying I don’t want to. It’s just… Isn’t this a little fast? I’m not ready yet.”

Evan nearly choked. ‘What is she even talking about? I’m simply taking her somewhere else to stay, nothing else!”

Then, he quickly explained, “I just meant going out for a change of scenery. We don’t have to stay together.”

However, it still sounded like a date to Sylvie’s ears.

Her eyes lit up with excitement.

Just as Evan thought he had persuaded her, something seemed to occur to her. Her expression dimmed. She shook her head. ” No, I can’t possibly go. Aria’s still hurt. I need to visit her tomorrow. Let’s just go home.”

Evan… something’s off.” Her eyes narrowed as she examined him closely.

A cold sweat broke out on his back. Does she realize something?

“You have another woman’s perfume on you,” Sylvie uttered slowly.

The words hit Evan like a thunderbolt. His mind went blank. “That’s Artemisia’s,” he explained quickly.

“No. Ms. Stone smells like medicinal herbs. This is clearly perfume.”

Evan fell silent. ‘Is her nose really that sharp? How did she even pick that up?”

“And there’s Hazel’s, Roxanne’s, and Anya’s perfume too,” Sylvie added, her tone turning cold. “Did you get back together with them?”
