Sorry Too Late (by J.J. Twelve) novel Chapter 143

Chapter 143 Slander

The heiresses felt insecure just thinking about Villa No. 1’s owner. Still, they wanted to see him. Hazel even nødded as she, too, yearned to see him.

Of course, the heiresses knew that a man of that caliber was way beyond them. Hence, they didn’t have any ideas about his person. All they wanted was to cure Zeke and see who Villa No. 1’s owner was. They wanted to see what a perfect man looked like.

Hazel made up her mind. “We’ll pay him a visit once Evan’s case is settled.” They couldn’t relax before Cain was dealt with.

Alas, the thing they feared came for them. Hazel’s phone rang. Stefan called. He was panicking. “Have you brought Evan back?”

Hazel’s face fell. “Not yet, but it’s not my fault. I want to take him home, but he refuses to listen to reason. I can’t do anything about that. Ask Anya and Roxanne if you don’t believe me.” She handed her phone to her friends.

“Yeah, it’s true. It’s Evan’s problem. He refuses to come back with us. Hazel begged him to, but he still said no. It’s not her fault.”

Since Roxanne and Anya had backed Hazel up just to prove that it wasn’t her fault Evan didn’t come home, Stefan believed them right away.

“I knew even Hazel couldn’t help, not when he refused to come back. This is bad.”

Cynthia spoke up. “We have no choice. Maybe we should kidnap Evan. He must stay with us for the time being.”

Hazel noticed her parents’ concern, and it felt like something was off. “Did something happen?”

“Not just something! It’s horrible! They’ve proven that Evan switched the drakeblood gemstone, and the whole network is talking about it!”

The news hit the heiresses like a truck. Even Zeke’s eyes went wide. ‘They proved that Evan switched the gemstone? Sure, they found out it was fake, but they had no proof that Evan did it. How could they have it now?’

“Turn on the TV!” The screen was talking about the case, and every channel was the same. The heiresses couldn’t believe it.

‘He’s done for,’ they thought. Cain now had concrete evidence that Evan did it, and there was even video proof!

Silverton’s elite circle was in an uproar. There was news from the state capital claiming that Cain would make his first response to the matter.

Alice, Beverly, and Colette were gathered in Eisenberg Castle. Darius was seated between them, suited up. The ladies looked at him like they wanted to spoil him.

A team of people was standing in front of them. “We’ve leaked the news as per your orders, Mr. Norwood. Every news outlet is talking about it right now! We have the court of public opinion right where we want them!

“And the video’s already professionally edited. No one can see that it’s false.”

The team was the one that spread the news of the gemstone switch. They doctored the evidence.

Darius tossed a suitcase over to them. “Good job. Here’s your reward. Now keep a low profile.” It was filled with

money.

“Thank you, Mr. Norwood! Call us if you need our services!” They picked up the suitcase and left. This wasn’t the

only case they were involved with. They had taken part in that one three years ago.

Darius was smiling cruelly. “Let’s see you survive this, dear brother. You don’t get a savior every single time.”
