Sorry Too Late (by J.J. Twelve) novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189 Stubborn Family

The moment his face froze on the screen, whatever hope Darius had left shattered.

His mind screamed in disbelief. He had never imagined the auction venue itself had been recorded-never considered that his face might have been captured. That level of exposure had been beyond his calculations.

James doubled over, coughing violently. If Josephine hadn’t grabbed him, he would have collapsed outright.

The triplets were staring ahead, their eyes empty and soulless.

The Norwoods were unraveling.

They did not expect the auction house footage at all, much less coming from Evan. They had no idea it even existed. The sisters only asked Darius to wipe the auction and transaction records. The thought that the auction itself was caught on video never crossed their minds.

And now, their family’s destruction beckoned. James nearly coughed up blood. They could claim that the transaction and auction records were doctored, but this video was a whole other story.

That was the nail in the coffin for the Norwoods.

The reporters were just as stunned. Cameras flashed relentlessly. Even Kinsey, composed as ever, was firing off shots in rapid succession. This was history in the making.

Darius-the supposed golden heir-was the thief.

This was big. Silverton would shake. The heiresses were petrified and stood like statues. Video evidence right after transaction records? They wondered if he really was turning the tide.

Evan sneered at Darius. “Caught on video, Darius. Are you still going to deny it?”

The Norwoods went three shades whiter. No one had the courage to speak, so Evan continued.

“Fine, then. I’ll answer the question. The Norwoods owe their meteoric rise to power to the money they got from auctioning the gemstone! The capital they gained gave them the power to purchase many businesses and expand their influence! That’s how the Norwoods came to be. You know I’m right!”

That speech was the nudge that pushed the Norwoods over the brink. James was nearly knocked out. Even the triplets-usually the sharpest minds in the room-had nothing left to counter with.

Their teeth chattered, and their bodies shivered. Evan was right. That was the secret to their rise.

Someone added, “Evan’s right. If he did steal the gemstone, why’d he stay with the Solbergs for three whole years?

That cleared things up. Gabriel had his answer, and a slicing gaze shot out of his eyes. His bloodlust was sweeping across the Norwoods.

Gabriel’s expression hardened. His eyes were slicing, murderous. The realization burned through him-these people had risen by selling his father’s gemstone. They had framed another man to cover it.

James insisted that the evidence was fake, though. “No, spare us, Mr. Gabriel! You can’t listen to him! My son is innocent! That little bastard doctored the evidence! It’s fake!”

He would know all about fake evidence, given that it played a part in their rise to power. Professionally doctored evidence was no different from actual evidence. The other Norwoods backed James up.

“Yeah, that video is fake! We have enough tech to make things up!”

“If you want to get back at us, just say it, you bastard! Why go through all these hoops?”

“Mr. Gabriel, I think you should look into his

case. I bet he has a whole team of experts creating fake evidence for

him!”
