The violent impact sent herseeling, and for a moment, it felt as if her soul had been ripped free from her body. But at that same instant, Evan’s warning flashed vividly through her mind “You’ll face bloodshed. Don’t get in a car.”
A car crash. It happened. Exactly as he had said, and she hadn’t believed him.
Regret crashed into her all at once.
But regret wasn’t the only thing flooding her.
There was also a deep, helpless attachment to the world she was about to leave behind. She hadn’t married, hadn’t had children, hadn’t honored her parents properly, hadn’t upheld her family’s legacy…
There were too many things she hadn’t done yet. She didn’t want to die.
Just as despair washed over her, a pair of strong arms swept her up and pulled her out of the wreckage, saving her from the blast that followed.
Wind roared past her ears. For a moment, she felt as if she were weightless, as if someone had lifted her straight into the air. When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was a sharply defined face, every feature carved like stone.
Ivarra’s eyes flew open. “M–Mr. Norwood?”
Only after carrying her to safety did Evan set her down. He wiped sweat from his brow and released a long breath. “Made it just
in time…”
“Ms. Stanton, are you alright?” He turned toward her as he spoke.
“I’m fine…” Ivana was still shaken, but her gaze remained fixed on Evan, her heart pounding uncontrollably.
With her identity, assassination attempts were nothing new. Ivana had grown used to them over the years, but she had never come so close to dying. Just a moment ago, she had truly believed her life was over.
‘Evan saved me. Did he come back to save me because he knew he was right? That I would face real danger?‘ As the thought took shape, the face she had once found somewhat irritating suddenly looked strikingly handsome.
But before she could say anything, Evan pressed a hand over her mouth. “Shh. Don’t make a sound. Someone’s coming…”
In the dim corner where they hid, their bodies were pressed tightly together. Evan’s heartbeat quickened; at this distance, he could feel Ivana’s warmth–the softness of her body and the generous curves pressed against him.
‘Damn… She really is Ms. Stanton’s aunt… Her aura and elegance are on a whole different level from Sylvie.‘
Ivana twisted instinctively, her movements sinuous and tense like a cornered serpent. Within moments, her cheeks flushed pink, and her breathing grew uneven.
She was the Queen of Finance–what man would ever dare press up against her like this? But there really were people near the crash site. The threat crawling along her spine made her feel as if she were being stalked by a venomous snake.
Four figures in black appeared at the burning wreckage, each wearing a strange mask. They surveyed the towering flames and the charred bodies inside. Then, without a word, they slipped away into the shadows.
Only then did Evan let her go.
Ivana’s face drained of color. “W–Who were they?”
Evan shook his head “I have no idea. But I’m certain of this if they’d spotted us, we’d both be dead.”
His expression turned grave. Those four men radiated an oppressive, terrifying force that telt capable of crushing him outright. With his current ability, fighting even one of them was impossible let alone all four Even rescuing Ivana had been a reckless

gamble.
Those men had arrived long before the crash. They had engineered the accident from the start.
But Ivana quickly regained her composure. She made several rapid calls. “I was attacked. Near my hotel. Send the Cortex Team
immediately.”
