Chapter 91 Big Mob
But that single syllable was enough to make the ladies’ hearts drop They knew Graham had been trying to say Evan’s name.
“What happened to him?”
Graham then opened his eyes. With all his strength, he raised his hand and pointed at the open window. His throat moved as he tried to make a sound.
The ladies waited with bated breath, but then Graham fainted.
“L…” They exchanged looks of bemusement, but in the end, they took Graham away.
While they were on the way to the hospital, Anya quietly asked, “Do you think Dad was trying to say Evan left him to die?”
Roxanne and Hazel looked like they’d just been hit by that realization.
“It’s possible. Those guys aren’t the good sort.”
“And you saw how terrified Evan was when Hugo showed up. He didn’t even say a word. All he did was eat.”
The ladies were reminded of that scene. They thought Evan was scared, but the truth was he just didn’t want to get involved.
Graham’s injuries served to stoke Anya’s hatred for Evan even more. “That cowardly bastard! He didn’t even save my dad! He stood by while the thugs abused him!”
She thought, ‘As if you can make Hugo beg for my dad to slap him!’ Anya was also reminded of Evan’s promise to clear his debt. Hugo had been right in front of him, and Evan hadn’t said a word.
‘He watched Dad get humiliated and then ran. He’s been bullshitting me this whole time. Evan, you’ll never repay what you owe my family!
Roxanne tried to calm her down. “Don’t have to get angry over him, Anya. If he’s as capable as he says he is, he’d never have lost to the Overlord back then.”
At the same time, Hugo had gone back to his turf. His other men noticed him coming back alone and covered in blood. They stared at him as if he’d just grown another head.
“W-What happened, Mr. Wells? I thought it was just a meal. How did you…”
Hugo answered, “Evan did this.”
He told them how Evan took out his whole entourage all by himself, and his other men were stunned. They knew those guys. They knew those men-brutal, loyal, willing to die on command.
And Evan took them out all by himself? That was impossible.
What followed disbelief was fury.
“So what if he’s a martial artist? He’s dead after what he did to Mr. Wells!”
“Everyone knows Mr. Wells rules the Silverton underground!”
“Grab your weapons! He can’t take all of us at once!”
Great City International’s club was packed–hundreds of people, and this was only one of Hugo’s smaller operations.
