“He moved a little just now. I thought he was trying to come out early, but it’s fine now.”
“Phoenix cubs usually don’t hatch until a month in. He won’t come out this early,” Malrik reassured her. “Don’t worry, Ms. Tibarn. A little movement is completely normal.”
Emma nodded.
When she carried Remy, he had grown on her head. All she’d worried about then was him slipping off. This time, the cub was in her belly, nothing like Remy’s situation at all.
It was her first pregnancy–of course, she didn’t know what to expect. That was why she panicked for a moment when she felt the egg move.
Marcus sat beside her and immediately opened his lightcore, sending Alaric a message urging him to return quickly.
Emma’s panic earlier made Marcus realize they truly needed a doctor living in the house- someone who could check on her the moment something felt wrong and calm her before she got scared.
Alaric, already on his way to Beast God Mountain, saw the message and instantly guessed something must have happened to Emma. He called her right away.
The call rang only once before she picked up.
“Emma, did you miss me?” Alaric’s voice held no sign of worry.
Emma smiled. “If I say no, will you be sad?”
“I’d be devastated,” he replied lightly, and the ease in his tone made her relax as well. “I’ve been thinking about you every single second, Emma. I can’t wait to get back to you.”
“You used to call me Ms. Tibarn; now you’re calling me by name?” Emma couldn’t help thinking this man’s pace was way too fast.
A low chuckle sounded through the lightcore. “What I call you doesn’t matter. What matters is that I miss you.”
Emma’s cheeks warmed. “Hurry back then,” she murmured.
“All right, I’ll come back as soon as I can,” Alaric promised, then asked with gentle concern, “Have you felt any discomfort since I left? Anything unusual?”
“No discomfort. But earlier, the cub moved, and it scared me. I thought he was coming out

“That’s normal,” he reassured. “As long as you don’t feel pain or dizziness, there’s nothing to worry about. He’ll start moving more often later Take it easy and don’t stress. Phoenix cubs never come out early.”
“I understand.” Now that she had calmed down, Emma felt much more at ease.
After she hung up, Marcus escorted her back to her room to rest.
She had barely entered when Remy ran up to her. “Mama, I heard you’re going out tomorrow with those two females who visited today. Can you bring me too?”
He wanted to go.
“You want to join us?” Emma asked with a smile.
“Mhm!” Remy nodded excitedly. “I can turn into a fruit and hide in your hair. That way, I can stay with you and protect you secretly.”
He wasn’t going to play–he was going to protect her.
“Mama, take me with you,” he pleaded, wrapping himself around her arm.
Emrea was helpless against his adorableness. “Okay, I’ll bring you. But that means you need to get good rest tonight, all right?”
“Okay! I will!”
Happy with her answer, Remy scampered away
Once he was gone, Marcus clung to her other arm, imitating him. “Ms. Tibarn, I want to go. too. Can you bring me along?”
Emma nearly rolled her eyes. “Why are you copying a child?”
This man… honestly…
“Is that yes or no?” Marcus asked, his fluffy tail sneaking around to curl around her ankle. “Ms. Tibarn…”
“Fine, you can come,” Emma said quickly as she grabbed the tip of his tail before it tickled her again. It was too much–she couldn’t take the sensation.
Now holding his tail, she absentmindedly stroked it. The soft fluff felt amazing.

He lowered his head, brushing a cool wolf car against her shoulder. “Ms. Tibarn… if you touch my tail, you have to touch here too…”
He guided her hand to his ear, then lay across her lap, his tail loosely circling her waist–he didn’t dare be rough with her during her pregnancy.
Emma stroked his ear, watching him melt against her with such bliss on his face that she couldn’t help herself. “Marcus, turn back into your original form. I’ll give you a proper massage.”
She’d pet cats and dogs before–but never a wolf And Marcus rarely fully transformed in front of her, usually only revealing his tail and ears like he was now.
