Chapter 651 Naive and Soft Beast
The little guy is seriously adorable.
Silas headed back to his room right away to grab what he needed.
Edric watched him disappear down the hallway and let out a quiet sigh. “Ever since Silas transferred into Executive Department, he’s been swamped.”
They had barely seen him take a real break. From dawn till late at night, he was rarely around.
Malrik commented, “He just joined Executive Department. Of course he’s drowning in work.”
The Executive Department was the kind of place that used people up thoroughly and discarded them the moment they stopped being useful. Silas had Lucien and Calum backing him now, so even though he had stepped into the Executive Department, he was still technically on the side of the military.
That did not mean the people in the Executive Department would treat him kindly.
He was bound to face exclusion, manipulation, and quiet schemes happening behind his back. If he wanted to secure a foothold there, this period of his life would never be easy.
He was going to be swamped.
Corvin shook his head softly. “Silas really has it rough. When I get back from Ravaryn tomorrow, I’ll cook him something good. He needs proper food. Something to recharge.”
Silas grabbed his things and left soon after.
On his way back, he thought about texting Emma. His fingers even hovered over the screen for a second. Then, he stopped. At this hour, even if she’s on the warship, she should be resting. I’ll text her tomorrow. No point waking her up.
The next morning, at daybreak, a warship returned to Central Planet.
Emma brought Alaric and the others back to the castle.
Drake still had not woken up, so Calum carried him straight off the warship without hesitation.
The moment Corvin saw Emma, he immediately set down what he was holding and ran out to greet her. His expression lit up. “Emma, you’re back.”
“Yeah.” She saw how genuinely happy he looked, and she could not help but smile back at him. My little liger beast is still the best He is easy to coax, easy to fool, and he never pretends he is tougher than he is.
“Are all the things for Ravaryn packed?” she asked Corvin.
“Yeah, everything is ready. Edric and Malrik stayed up with me last night. We made a ton of good food together. I am bringing it over to Mother today,” he said.
Talking about it made Emma feel a slight pang of regret. “I should have cooked something special for your mother myself. And should have put together a proper gift, too. It is my first time meeting your family. I should have prepared something in advance

That would show I actually care.”
“Emma, please do not say that,” he said. His tone turned serious. “You asked Edric and Malrik to help me. That is the same as you doing it yourself. And honestly, the fact that you are coming back with me already makes me happier than you know. She is going to be thrilled, too.”
In most families, a huntress‘ other mates would not bother with this kind of thing. But in our family, all the mates get along. We are closer than real siblings.
“By the way, how is Drake?” Corvin suddenly asked. “Did he come back with you?”
The second the words left his mouth, he turned his head and saw Drake slung over Calum’s shoulder.
The sight of the white streaks in Drake’s hair made Corvin freeze. He stood there in complete shock. “W–What happened to Drake?”
Oh my God, why is so much of Drake’s hair white now?
“Relax. He is not dying,” Alaric replied. “He just looks a little rough for now.”
Corvin looked at Drake with obvious worry in his eyes. “Alaric, hurry up and fix him. If you are short on beast cores, tell me. I will get them for you.”
He’s young, still a male who cares way too much about how he looks. If he wakes up and sees himself like this, it’s going to crush him.
In a whole family full of calculating beasts, someone this naive and soft had somehow slipped through. It actually made Alaric feel a flicker of embarrassment. He turned to Corvin and said, “Relax. I’ll fix him. I promise.”
Emma had Calum carry Drake, who was still out cold, back to the room he used to stay in.
The moment Calum laid him down, Drake stirred awake.
He took in the familiar layout of the room, then slowly turned his head toward Emma, who was standing beside the bed. The first thing out of his mouth was, “You shouldn’t have brought me back.”
He keeps repeating that statement.
Corvin’s eyes widened.
He stared at Drake like he could not believe what he had just heard. “Drake, how can you say that? Emma went out in the middle of the night to chase you down because she was worried about you. She didn’t even rest.”
He doesn’t just skip the gratitude part. He actually says Emma shouldn’t have brought him back.
Marcus stood at the doorway with his arms crossed. His shoulder was resting against the frame. “Maybe his brain’s fried. His mouth, too. Alaric, why don’t you just poison him into a deep sleep again? While you’re at it, numb his mouth so he can’t talk.”
That way, he doesn’t get to say anything this infuriating.
