Andre frowned slightly. For some reason, the color of these dishes didn’t look like something meant for therians to eat.
Seeing that Andre still hadn’t agreed, Gaellard continued persuading him. “Alaric told me these dishes were made personally by Emma. Don’t you want to try Emma’s cooking? If you taste it, you’ll understand her preferences better. Then, you’ll know how to please her in the future.”
Andre wouldn’t listen to most things. But when he heard that it could help him understand Emma, he hesitated.
The next second, a layer of frost instantly covered the water jugs Gaellard had brought.
The water inside didn’t freeze solid, but it became cold enough.
“Andre, I knew you were a good guy.” After saying that, Gaellard handed one of the water jugs to him. “The flavors are quite intense, though. When you eat them, make sure you drink some
ice water.”
He couldn’t be blamed for setting Andre up. After all, he had told him to drink the water while eating.
With that, Gaellard picked up a piece of fish and ate it first. Immediately after, he took a quick gulp of water.
“So good!”
Not only was it delicious–it was exhilarating too.
Seeing Gaellard eating so enthusiastically, Andre stopped hesitating. He picked up a piece of beast meat and took a bite.
The piece he picked happened to have the most chili on it, and an explosive wave of extreme spiciness burst instantly in his mouth.
Andre wanted to spit it out, but when he saw Gaellard enjoying his food so much, he felt that if he spat it out, it would be like admitting defeat.
So without even chewing, he swallowed the piece of meat straight down.
His throat felt like it was burning along with it. His originally pale skin quickly flushed red, almost like an apple.

Andre quickly grabbed the water jug beside him and gulped down several mouthfuls. Only then did the overwhelming heat case slightly.
He looked at the bright red dishes inside the food container and instinctively began to resist them.
Did Emma really like this kind of food?
Wasn’t this rather intense? Was this really something meant for therians to consume?
Were their taste buds that different?
Seeing that Andre’s face had also turned red from the heat, Gaellard asked excitedly, “Andre, how is it? Isn’t it fragrant? Isn’t it exciting?”
Andre looked at him expressionlessly.
Then he spat out a single word. “Get lost.”
Gaellard pouted, picked up his water jug and food container, and stood up.
“Seriously, no good deed goes unpunished. Fine, I’m leaving.”
Food this fragrant and exciting–he was actually reluctant to share it with Andre anyway.
Gaellard soon left.
On the warship, Emma had just returned to her room after dinner when Lucien walked in.
“Why are you here, Lucien?
Just a moment ago, he had said he was going to incubate the eggs.
“I miss you.” Lucien walked over and wrapped his arms around Emma’s waist from behind.
“Emma, don’t you miss me?”
Of course she did. But right now, she really had no energy left.
Emma turned around in his arms and looked up at his handsome face. She smiled gently, though inside she was practically in tears.
“I do, but aren’t you incubating the eggs right now?”

Luckily, Lucien was incubating the eggs. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to escape.

“It’s exactly because I’m incubating them and can’t do much that I came to spend time with you.”
Lucien carried Emma over to the bed and gently set her down.
“Do you not want me here? Would you rather someone else come instead?”
“No, no, no!” Emma quickly grabbed his hand. “I want you here. Hurry and lie down on the bed.”
She held onto his hand tightly, refusing to let go.
Lucien stifled a laugh as he sat on the edge of the bed, holding Emma’s hand and placing it
over his chest.
“If you want me to stay, Emma, you’ll have to show a little sincerity,” he said.
Even though he couldn’t do much, he still wanted a little reward–after all, he was incredibly greedy.
Emma reached out and helped undo the buttons of his shirt, and along the way, her hand brushed lightly over his chest.
“Just a touch?” Lucien held her hand in his. “I just don’t want you to leave so soon…”
He leaned down and kissed her lips.

“Then what should we do?” she asked. Emma wrapped her arms around Lucien’s neck. “You still need to incubate the eggs.”
She wanted to linger longer too, but the situation didn’t allow it.
Lucien sighed, pulling her tightly into his arms. “Sleep. I’ll stay with you.”
Emma’s eyes fell on a small patch of feathers exposed on his left lower abdomen. She reached out and touched it gently.
The two eggs were tucked right beneath those feathers.
“When will they hatch?” she whispered.
“By the time we get back, probably,” Lucien replied softly.

“When we get back, I’ll stay with them. I’ll watch them hatch,” Emma said.
“Okay,” Lucien murmured, a gentle smile in his voice as he patted her back lightly.
Emma, exhausted, quickly drifted off to sleep in his arms.

Late at night, Gaellard lay in the treehouse he had made himself, dozing lightly, when a sharp pain shot through his stomach suddenly.
“Ugh…”
He curled up in pain, a cold sweat breaking out across his forehead.
It felt like two currents were colliding inside his stomach–not t just colliding, but churning violently.
It was even worse than being cut by a blade.
The next second, Gaellard suddenly felt one of those currents surge downward with shocking force.
