The only suspect left was Vickie Thomas.
That was the reason why Yuliana came to look for the latter immediately to find her necklace.
However, judging by Vickie’s behavior now, she did not seem perturbed by the fact that Yuliana was going to search her room. Perhaps, she did not steal it at all.
Yuliana contemplated quietly. Still, since she was here, she might as well have a look, so she mustered her courage and said, “Fine, I’ll search for it!”
Next, she brought her maid, Ginny, into the room.
The whole time the two women ransacked the room, Vickie sat on the sofa without batting an eye.
On the contrary, Andrea, who came in to serve Vickie tea, got a shock when she saw what was going on.
“Miss Thomas, what, what are they doing?” Andrea was nervous.
Vickie was as composed as ever and said, “Andrea, don’t stop them. Let them search.”
Andrea was annoyed, but she dared not say a word.
The room was not exactly big, and Vickie did not like too many objects in her room, so the decor was minimalistic and easy to go through.
About twenty minutes later, the search was over.
Yuliana was mad. When she observed Vickie, who was sitting on the sofa and ignoring her, she felt a fiery surge of wrath engulfing her. Her face felt hot too.
Vickie lifted her head to gaze at Yuliana calmly and asked, “Have you finished searching, Miss Lynch? Have you found your necklace?”
Yuliana bit her lip. She retorted stubbornly, “It might not be in your room, but it doesn’t prove that you didn’t steal it. You might have hidden it somewhere else.”
Yuliana was taken aback when Vickie raised her eyebrows and chuckled.
Vickie was not as angry as she had expected. In fact, there was not a hint of rage from her. She merely sat there and said, “Based on what you said, are you going to pin the blame on me no matter what happens?”
Yuliana gulped, feeling guilty under Vickie’s icy gaze.
However, it was too late to back down now. Yuliana had no other choice but to blame everything on this woman. Instead of retreating, she might as well make a big deal out of this issue. The best outcome would be to get rid of her.
A villainous glint appeared in her eyes.
She regarded Vickie with a sarcastic smile. “We all know whether I’m trying to pick on you or whether you’re feeling guilty. Vickie, I’ll be honest with you. My mother gave the necklace to me, and it’s very important to me. If you’ve stolen it, I advise you to come clean and hand it over, or else…”
“Or else what?” Vickie snapped back with a threatening tone in her voice.
However, Yuliana did not hear it. She continued smugly, “Or else, I’ll get Gregory to throw you out! You shall see whether I’ll do it or not!”
“Hmph!” Vickie grinned.
This thought flashed across Yuliana’s mind. In the next second, she felt a pain in her ear. Somehow, Vickie had taken out a dagger and pressed the glimmering blade against the former’s ear.
Yuliana’s face was drained of color. She was petrified and could not move a muscle.
She kept stammering, “What…Wh-what...what…are you trying to do?”
Vickie chuckled. Gently, she exhaled a breath of air on her ear.
Her voice was tender. It felt like she was saying sweet nothings to her instead of threatening her.
Nonetheless, what she did was even more terrifying. The puff of air was like a cold, venomous snake that slithered into Yuliana’s ear, resulting in goosebumps exploding on her skin.
Vickie said softly, “Guess what happened to the last person who accused me and picked on me?”
Yuliana believed that she had not known Vickie for long. She was also unaware of the identity of the last person who had accused Vickie, so how was she supposed to know the answer?
Still, Vickie was not expecting her to respond, so she added, “She’s dead. With this very dagger, I cut open her skin slowly. There were a total of 91 cuts on her face, body, and legs. In the end, I slit her throat and she died.”
Yuliana’s face was eerily pale. She could imagine the pain felt when the blade ran across flesh. The woman in front of her was like a devil that rose up from hell.
Her voice trembled now. “If...if you…If you dare to touch me, Gregory won’t let you go.”
Vickie laughed intimidatingly. “Oh? Really? But what if I don’t believe you? Why don’t we give it a try? Let’s see whether he’ll avenge you if you’re dead.”
