"Ah, Ms. Bishop, I've heard a lot about you. Finally meeting you in person, you're quite the charmer."
Stephanie greeted with a beaming smile, "Hello, Uncle..."
Kevin nodded and turned to Marilyn, "Are you free?"
It was clear that Stephanie's response didn't matter; it was Marilyn's consent that counted.
Marilyn rolled her eyes at Stephanie before replying to Kevin with a smile, "If it's about work, I'll make time. Where are we having lunch?"
"I've got a spot booked; I'll text you the address later. Hope you don't mind bringing someone along."
"That's fine."
"Alright, I won't keep Director Bishop from her busy schedule. See you later, kiddo."
"Bye, Uncle!"
Once Kevin left, Stephanie bombarded her mother with questions.
"Mom! Who is that? What does he do? Is he married? Has kids? Is he into you?"
Marilyn replied, a bit annoyed, "You and your nosy questions! I already told you, he's the head of the sales department. We rarely cross paths; I don't know all his personal details!"
"That's easy to fix... Just wait, I'll go and find out for you."
Marilyn quickly grabbed her, "Steph, don't you start causing trouble! Are you asking for a spanking?"
"Mom, I'm just thinking about your future happiness. You can't stop me. See you in a bit!"
With that, Stephanie wriggled free from her mother's grasp and ran off.
