Chapter 774: Third attempt

"So... are we going back my liege?" Little red did not like the plan. It felt a little like running and hiding. Her master was born to become the ruler of the universe, not run and hide like this.

Damon chuckled. "No. That would be the safest thing to do. But we are not doing that. Since we came here, we haven’t gotten anything good yet. My power hasn’t really changed. If we go back just like that, we will be in that same position. No. I have a feeling we need an immediate boost."

Damon was pretty sure he was not paranoid about this. After all, he had defeated a B rank in Earth Online. If he was not wrong, something momentous should happen soon. He wouldn’t be surprised if some sort of final boss came out of the hiding.

If it were a normal game something like that was likely to happen and this entire world was designed like a normal game. He was 100% sure some monster was going to show up as soon as he returned.

Damon clenched his fists. "No. We are staying here for some more time."

Blood Reign became excited. "Yes, my liege." She hummed in satisfaction.

Damon continued. "There are two strategies we can take here. We can go after a strong bloodline fragment and then instantly teleport back to the game world once we get our hands on it."

"Ideally, this should be the best idea because we already know that the bloodline is plenty strong and we will definitely get something out of it. However, there is one major issue with this plan. If I did this, I would be underestimating the strength of an A rank or perhaps of an entity even above that, like a God."

"My liege?"

"Blood Reign, do you think it is easy to get away from a God? To teleport right under the nose of a God like being?"

Blood Reign gasped. The excitement from a moment ago vanished like it had never existed. "...no," she finally admitted.

Damon nodded slightly. "Exactly. If someone at that level is involved with a strong fragment, maybe keeping an eye on it just so that they can trap devourers like me... then the moment I appear, I’m already inside their domain. Teleportation won’t save me. In fact..."

A faint smirk appeared on his face. "...it might be the very thing that gets me killed."

Because appearing out of nowhere, inside the perception range of something that could freeze the world itself, wasn’t just a risk, it was suicide.

"So the first option is just me walking into a predator’s mouth."

Blood Reign did not argue. Damon continued calmly. "That leaves the second option... we hunt the weak."

"The weak are still dangerous. Every single one of them is a devourer. Every single one of them has survived long enough to reach this stage. Even the weakest thread... is not harmless. But they’re still safer than the alternative."

"My liege... then our strategy is..."

"We take a small fragment and then we disappear. We then take another and then disappear again. I think we can do this maybe three or four times before we become big enough for anyone to take notice. It actually could be more or could be less. I am just guessing right now based on the bloodline fragments we have obtained so far."

Damon’s lips curved slightly. "I don’t need to become the strongest right now. I just need to not become a target while gaining something good. Alright. It’s time to test out our luck. There is only so much we can plan. Let’s go. Let’s see what we rolled this time around."

He focussed on his bloodline network and immediately picked out another weak thread. The next instant he disappeared from the mortal world.
