She saw Tilly's blood type.
Type O?
How could Tilly possibly be Type O?
She knew Edmond was Type AB, which meant no matter what blood type her mother was, it was biologically impossible for them to produce a child with Type O blood!
Was there a mistake with the test, or was Edmond not actually Type AB?
That didn't make sense either!
She had known for years that Edmond was Type AB, and she had even seen some of his lab reports during his recent hospitalization.
It was impossible for the tests both back home and abroad to be completely wrong.
So, Edmond was definitely Type AB.
That left only the possibility of a mistake in Tilly's test.
She asked the doctor about it.
The doctor replied that they already had Tilly's medical records on file and had run this test more than once.
In other words, a mistake was impossible.
Sheila was stunned.
Snapping back to reality, she pulled out her phone to verify the facts.
Was it possible she had remembered the biology wrong?
But the information on her screen clearly confirmed she was absolutely right.
If neither of their test results were wrong...
Then all the data pointed to one single conclusion.
Tilly... was not Edmond's biological daughter.
Sheila was shell-shocked.
She felt completely paralyzed.
Meanwhile, Edmond was taking a call at the end of the corridor.
It was Thurston Golding.
Thurston had brought Pippa Golding back home. He couldn't even bring himself to forgive what Pippa had done this time.
But what else could he do? She was his uncle's daughter, his own cousin.
He couldn't exactly kill her.
He had told her to find a way to get close to Edmond, but he never imagined she would actually harbor malicious intentions.
When Edmond rushed back, Thurston had wanted to meet with him, but Edmond hadn't given him the time of day.
Sheila jolted, glanced at him, and quickly averted her eyes.
"It's fine," she said. "The doctor said everything looks good."
"That's a relief." Edmond looked down at her. "Do you want to grab dinner together tonight?"
Sheila's mind was a chaotic mess, making her reaction a beat too slow.
"Sure," she blurted out.
She hadn't actually processed a single word Edmond just said.
"Let's go. We're heading home." Edmond reached out. "I'll carry Tilly."
Tilly gripped one of Sheila's fingers. "Pretty lady..."
"She's coming with us," Edmond reassured her.
Only then did Tilly let him pick her up.
Edmond carried Tilly, with Sheila walking right beside them.
She had no choice but to tag along because Tilly refused to let go of her hand.
She kept stealing glances at Edmond, the sheer complexity in her eyes impossible for him to ignore.
Once they stepped into the elevator, he asked, "What are you staring at? Do I have something on my face?"
