What even was this?
There were no claws.
There were no teeth.
There were no heads.
There were no talons.
Sure, there were legs, but they were way too long and spindly. It was more than clear that they didn't offer a lot of speed.
All in all, the picture the strange Demon gave the others was one of failure and weakness. Something like that couldn't possibly keep up with the other Demons.
Even if that thing were a Late Crusher Demon, it wouldn't seem powerful. Hell, even if it were a Peak Crusher Demon, the Late Crusher Demons still wouldn't fear it.
As they saw the Demon approaching their Law Well, the Demons grew annoyed and angry. This thing did not deserve to join their table.
Their instincts told them that they had to defend their resources, filling them with aggression and hostility. It was like the feeling of seeing a fly landing on their delicious food.
Several Demons readied themselves to charge towards the newcomer, but when one of them charged forward, the others stopped.
Demons were beasts, and beasts followed their instincts. Their instincts told them that it was bad to kill something without any gain. If something was so weak that it wouldn't even offer a challenge, it didn't feel right to kill it.
Naturally, someone encroaching on their resources was reason enough to kill them, but they wouldn't invest more resources than necessary. Because of that, no other Demon got involved when one Demon went forward.
The Demon that charged forward was lean and muscular. It barely had any natural armor, but it also didn't need that. Sparks of intense lightning came out of its body, creating offensive armor. The lightning could focus on one object, offering a powerful offense, but it could also push the Demon forward, offering great acceleration.
The Demon's body had three heads and six legs, which were all infused with lightning. It was fast, strong, and versatile, like every other Demon.
The Demon landed in front of the scurrying pillar, and the lightning around its body intensified in a display of threat and dominance. Its instincts were fighting two opposing emotions. It didn't feel comfortable killing the weak Demon, but it also felt hatred towards the audacity of the weak pillar.
It would give one warning. Only one. If the pillar didn't get the message, it would die.
The pillar stopped for a short moment, but then it continued scurrying forward. The only difference was that the large hammerhead had risen ever so slightly, no longer leaving a crevice behind.
The Demon's hesitation vanished, and aggression dominated its mind.
Fine! Then, die!
The Demon exploded forward, its speed unrivaled. Even more lightning gathered around its body, hiding it behind an incandescent display of explosive violence. The cloud of explosive lightning moved in an arc, and as it approached the pillar, three long, dragon-like heads of lightning stretched out of it.
Power and dominance were beautifully displayed as the Demon's violent might transformed the surroundings into ash.
The Demon reached the pillar, its three heads extending towards it from different angles. Evading such an attack would prove difficult.
The pillar stopped moving. Its spindly legs extended to the side before burrowing deep into the ground. The pillar's base hit the ground as the spindly legs, below the surface, grew countless hooked spikes, keeping the pillar as stable as an ancient mountain.
Then, the pillar's entire body seemed to morph and warp. Its skin and scales were bursting and warping as its smooth, geometric body shape became wavy and uneven.
Muscles, veins, and sinews. The pillar's appearance warped and deformed, like the arm of a roided-out bodybuilder about to go for a personal best in weightlifting.
The Demon approached.
The base of the pillar slightly moved forward as its back exploded with concentrated Wind and Fire Energy. At the same time, the muscles on the front of the pillar's base turned into Lightning, Water, and Darkness Energy, leaving behind a massive bone. Simultaneously, dense Earth Energy was spreading out from its many hooks and legs, strengthening the ground around it.
BANG!
