"You've proven to be unreliable, Overlord Harkin."
Overlord Harkin floated above the Divide, his tall stature unbent as he coldly gazed towards the distant Abyss.
"That's a baseless accusation," he transmitted back. "I have given you what you wanted."
"You have not," the owner of the voice transmission answered. "We have asked you for answers. We wanted you to investigate the incident from 5,000 years ago."
"And I have done just that," Overlord Harkin answered. "We have investigated, and I have given you our findings. When you disagreed with our findings, we have given you the identities of the involved people, and I know for a fact that you have investigated them as well."
"You know what happened," the voice spoke evenly.
"Over 90 dead Spirit Lords and Ascendants," Overlord Harkin answered. "That's why I didn't push it. Pushing the group too far might end up destroying the only lead we have. This incident has destabilized the frontlines. Resisting your onslaught of mindless soldiers has become difficult."
"The veil isn't relevant," the voice answered. "This is about the event, not about keeping Humanity's subservience secret. You have kept vital information from us."
"What vital information? I'm just as much in the dark as you," Overlord Harkin transmitted, his body not moving. "Want me to swear another oath?"
"Your oaths have proven as unreliable as you, Overlord Harkin," the voice transmitted. "You have sworn your loyalty again and again, and yet, we keep finding issues with your work."
"I have kept all of my oaths," Overlord Harkin answered, "and you know that. Name one time in which I have broken any of my oaths."
The voice didn't immediately answer.
"Your argument is based on semantics," the voice spoke. "Yes, we can't find a time in which you have broken your oaths, and yet, the issues during your governance are numerous when compared to the people preceding you. Raw data doesn't lie."
"Then, why are you still talking to me?" Overlord Harkin asked. "Replace me."
"Be careful of your choice of words," the voice spoke evenly.
"My choice of words is deliberate," Overlord Harkin answered. "You are the ones in control. You can freely choose your governor. I know the countless acts of betrayal I have committed for you best, and I know that I'm fulfilling your requirements. If you wanted to replace me, you wouldn't be talking with me."
"I've investigated the incident. I've given you the opportunity to abduct General Psychosis Manifestation. I've given you a list of all the people who have been invited to the event. I told you that this group is hard to crack. I told you that pushing them too far would eliminate all hope of finding the truth."
"You pushed them too far. You're the reason why the investigation has nowhere to go, and you know that. You're the one who has caused this. Tell me what you want me to do instead of throwing accusations my way."
The voice remained silent for a while.
"This is your last chance," the voice spoke. "Hand over Overlord Sunlight."
"She's dead," Overlord Harkin answered. "She died with the other ones."
"Swear an oath," the voice commanded.
"Fine, I fully believe that Overlord Sunlight is dead. Everything I know points towards that fact. I did not see her die, and I did not see her corpse. She might still be alive, but I fully believe that she is dead, and all the evidence agrees with me. I swear on my life that I have only spoken the truth and nothing but the truth while talking about Overlord Sunlight and anything related to her."
The voice remained silent for a while.
"Hand over Voidbolt," the voice ordered.
"Which one? I assume you mean the one who has fought Black Sin Hammer 37?" Overlord Harkin asked evenly.
"Yes, swear an oath."
"He's dead, and you know that, but fine, I swear..."
"Hand over the Sect Member known as Star Genesis," the voice ordered after Overlord Harkin had finished swearing his oath.
"Also dead," Overlord Harkin answered. "Fine, I will swear another oath. I swear..."
"Hand over Fierce Breaker."
"Also dead."
