As Kyle looked at Ayuvar, he felt a complex feeling of nostalgia, goodwill, and loss. He had been in Ayuvar for the vast majority of his life, and it had also been the first place he had considered home.
He had been moving back and forth in the Tertiary World. Sure, the Stark Brotherhood had been nice, but it had been more of a job than a home. The Array of Stars had felt similarly to him. Naturally, the Secondary Sector hadn't felt like a home at all. He had just gone from one place to another.
Yet, Ayuvar had been his home. He had made many connections with Humanity, and he had seen how hard everyone had worked to preserve their home.
Sadly, the old Ayuvar was gone, destroyed by Fox. The Ayuvar Kyle could see right now was not the Ayuvar he had called home. However, he still enjoyed being here.
And now, he was about to leave, and he knew that he would most likely never see it again.
'But I also don't need to see it again,' he thought. 'I've made my peace with this place. Still feels strange to leave it all behind after such a long time, but it's not like I'm going to stay here.'
Kyle glanced at Sebastian, who had noticed Kyle's silence. Naturally, he knew what this silence meant. The excitement of finding a better Fusion vanished as Melanie's face appeared in his mind.
'Honey...' Sebastian thought as a deep feeling of dread spread through his existence.
It was not too late.
He could still see her one last time.
'I don't want to,' Sebastian thought. 'I fear that, if I see her again...'
'I might not be able to leave.'
Sebastian remembered his last moments with Melanie. After a deep embrace and some tears, the two of them had simply said a simple goodbye. And then, they had just left.
They didn't want to make it too hard on the other one. The quicker everything passed, the better.
Melanie was not within the range of Sebastian's Divine Consciousness, and it was good that way.
'She's probably crying. She must be in a lot of pain.'
Sebastian smiled weakly.
'But I probably don't feel any better.'
Sebastian remained just as silent as Kyle.
'I don't know how I am supposed to continue without you. Am I supposed to keep acting all excited about everything, distracting myself from the emptiness I feel deep inside? Am I just supposed to act like nothing is wrong? Am I supposed to say that everything's fine?'
'Maybe... I don't know. With enough time, I might start to believe that my excited mask reflects my true face. Kyle and I are about to enter the Supreme World again. I can't wallow in this misery. Not now. There's a time to think about my pain, but there's also a time when it has to take a backseat.'
'Honey...'
'I'm sorry. I'm sorry that things had to develop in this way. I know there's nothing I could've done differently. As much as it pains me to say, I have to accept that you simply aren't talented enough to become an Immortal. If you had been a Legendary Transcendent, you would've managed to reach the Advanced Fusion Realm. Sadly, you didn't, and it's not for a lack of trying.'
'Sometimes, hard work isn't enough. Which Immortal hasn't worked their ass off to get to where they are now?'
Sebastian released an empty chuckle.
'Well, I guess I did. I've spent a lot of time with you. I guess I'm just luckier.'
'We've spent more than a lifetime together. We've stayed true to each other for a number of years that would make almost everyone else envious.'
'But it's never enough. You can't have true love for long enough. It will always be too little, even if you've done everything perfectly.'
'I'll miss you, Honey, and I will never stop missing you. It doesn't feel like I will ever get over your loss, but I know that I can't understand my future self. Back when I entered the Tertiary World, I also believed that I would never get over my old family, but with time, things became easier.'
'The guilt I would feel if I were to forget the pain of losing you might kill me, but I know that's what you want from me. You want me to feel happiness. You want me to forget this pain. You don't want me to forget you, but you want me to forget our shared pain so that I may live again.'
'I'll try my best. I don't know how, but I will try.'
