Each interrogation took an entire minute, which was quite a long time when talking via voice transmission.
One person after the other was taken away by Overlord Sandpike. The people who had been interrogated didn't return.
Eventually, only General Regalia, Protector Ziccan, Senior Protector Blooddrought, and the six Sages were left. General Regalia and Protector Ziccan hadn't been interrogated yet since they worked directly under Overlord Cloudhorn, and Blooddrought was the only One-Infused Ascendant present, making her the strongest.
"Protector Ziccan, follow me," Overlord Sandpike said before the two of them left.
A minute later...
"General Regalia, follow me."
A minute later...
"Senior Protector Blooddrought, follow me."
Now, only Kyle's group remained. They didn't talk to each other and simply waited. They had already expected that they would be last. Usually, during such investigations, the investigator would collect as much information as possible before confronting the most suspicious individuals. Getting more information beforehand gave them more to work with.
Sebastian was called next.
Even though the group could talk with each other via the relay without being noticed, Sebastian didn't say anything. Sometimes, knowing less was better than knowing more.
Star Genesis was next.
Swamp Dragon was next.
Fierce Breaker was next.
Now, only Manny and Kyle remained.
Overlord Sandpike returned and looked at the two of them.
"Black Sin Hammer 37, you're next," he said.
Kyle nodded and didn't resist Overlord Sandpike's teleportation. A moment later, he found himself inside several Formation Arrays. Overlord Sandpike and Overlord Sunlight stood in front of him.
"What have you been doing during your purchased spare time?" Overlord Sandpike asked.
"I was working on my strength," Kyle answered, transmitting his answer to both of them.
"What were you working on specifically?" Overlord Sandpike asked.
"Pure Laws, Complex Laws, and my Imposing Law."
"What are your Laws?" Overlord Sunlight asked.
"I will not answer that question," Kyle transmitted.
"This is not up to you to decide," Overlord Sunlight transmitted with narrowed eyes. "This is an investigation. Two Ascendants have died, and Humanity will not let this matter rest. Refusing to answer will lead to execution."
"I will not answer," Kyle transmitted.
"Are you certain you want your life to end because of something like this?" Overlord Sandpike asked.
"If my life ends, it ends," Kyle answered.
The two Overlords tried to threaten Kyle some more, but he refused to answer every time.
"What were the challenges you faced today?" Overlord Sandpike asked. "Senior Protector Blooddrought prepared several challenges for you. Which ones did you face?"
"I will not answer," Kyle transmitted.
"You faced Lieutenant General Voidbolt today," Overlord Sunlight transmitted. "How did that fight go?"
"I will not answer."
"You won against Lieutenant General Voidbolt," Overlord Sandpike said. "We've already asked him, and he has told us all about it. You used your Energy advantage to create black holes, outlasting him, correct?"
"I will not answer."
"At this point, we must view this as an act of treason," Overlord Sunlight transmitted. "We already know how this fight went. Giving us an answer to this question will not reveal new information. Yet, you still refuse to answer. Is this a spiteful act of resistance?"
"I will not answer."
"Why do you refuse to answer?"
"I will not answer."
"You had a reason for demonstrating your power to Humanity today. What is that reason?" Overlord Sandpike asked.
"Hope," Kyle answered. "I wanted to give hope."
The two Overlords looked at Kyle, their reactions a bit more pronounced than they should be. It was like a person finally finding water after searching for a long while.
However, when considering what the two Overlords had gone through over the last 80 or so interrogations, these reactions made sense.
They had barely gotten any information. Everyone was fine with talking about their time before the event, but as soon as they were asked about the event itself, they refused to answer.
The two Overlords kept asking Kyle questions, but he refused to answer all of them.
In the end, the two Overlords also didn't gain any information from Kyle.
Not even a single person had cracked. Interrogating them had been like interrogating a wall.
If even a single one of them had shared some bits of information, the two Overlords could use these bits to get information out of others, but there was just nothing to grab onto.
They were not sure if they had ever seen such a large group that didn't have a single weak link. The group was like a perfect sphere.
Of course, all of this had been prepared by Overlord Cloudhorn. One of his last orders had been about answering questions during the inevitable interrogation.
Every question had to be answered with the words, "I will not answer".
Every question unrelated to the event could be answered as normal.
Yet, there were also two questions that everyone had to answer the same way.
The first answer was to the question of whether or not the person was loyal to Humanity. The answer was, yes.
The second answer...
"Can you tell us anything about what has happened today?" Overlord Sandpike asked, already knowing the answer.
"Nothing happened," Zoro answered.
Overlord Sandpike blinked, staring at the scarred, green haired swordsman who had definitely not been standing there a moment ago.
"Who the hell are you?"
The swordsman frowned, looking around the room before clicking his tongue in annoyance. "Damn curly brow gave me the wrong directions again."
Without another word, he turned around and confidently walked directly towards the abyss.
Anyway.
"Nothing happened," Kyle answered.
