Tiny motes of light drifted like fireflies, responding to their presence by gathering closer, as if the room itself was... eager to watch.

And in the very centre was the bed, large enough to hold twenty people and still have space left. It was framed in dark polished wood that seemed to drink in the starlight, draped in layers of black silk so soft that one’s entire body would sink into the bed the moment they lay down.

The sheets and pillows shined faintly as well, made from pure, cool and weightless shadows. Plush cushions in deep purple and midnight blue were scattered across the bed.

The entire mansion, from even the smallest side of the garden to the bedroom, was suited to Shadow’s taste, and as she walked into the familiar room with her new body while pulling Nux by his collar, she stared at her bed with her eyes filled with hunger.

Shadow didn’t speak; she didn’t need to.

The way her eyes were now looking at him was all Nux needed to see to hear and fully understand all her thoughts.

At first, he decided to let Shadow have the control, letting her lead him to the edge, but the next second, as the room’s environment began to affect his mind—
