Chapter 2262: Report 2

"Continue."

Seraphielle ordered.

Lord Light gritted his teeth in hesitation, but he did what his Goddess ordered him to do.

"We acted."

He began, reminding himself that he wasn’t powerless.

"We gathered as many recording crystals as we could and destroyed them. We tracked down sites where they appeared, we confiscated copies and punished those spreading them inside our controlled worlds."

Then, Lord Light paused for a moment and then—

"And we... removed supporting evidence wherever we could."

He spoke in a heavy tone.

Was it a confession?

In some way, yes.

Ever since the beginning, Lord Light or any Light Born had never once denied the accusations the Anomaly threw at them.

They were all true; they knew it.

They just... never cared.

Until now.

"We erased old archives.

We sealed historical vaults.

We burned records that could be used against us.

We relocated witnesses.

And... we forced silence where silence was needed."

Seraphielle nodded; that was the least she expected.

At this point, it was already clear that the Infinity of Light herself did not care about justice. Yes, while her powers increased if there was more ’good’ in the world, that ’good’ could only be maintained when ’certain people’ were happy.

A living being’s mind was corrupted; giving free will to all, giving them everything they wanted in hopes that they would be... happy, was a false idea.

Seraphielle had tested it herself, several epochs ago.

She had once given the people what they wanted and... it only made them want more. Their desires grew so quickly and became so grand that even Seraphielle herself could not fulfill all their needs.

That was when the Infinity of Light realized the truth.

True purity, true happiness, true... Light, did not come from freedom.

It came from suppression.

The more ’suppressed’ the people felt, the lower their wants became.

It was a simple truth.

A King would want multiple Kingdoms under his rule, he would want multiple women, unlimited wealth, a world where every being bowed down to him.

But a poverty-ridden man who hadn’t eaten for months or even days?

He would only want food.

Offer the King a Kingdom, and he would want more—his greed would never be satiated.

Offer the poverty-ridden man food and a way to earn money to keep having that same food, and he would be grateful for his entire life. Not only would he be grateful, he would be happy.

He would release the energy that would later turn into the Infinity of Light’s Authority.

So that was how Seraphielle played the game.

She... suppressed people, she suppressed their needs, their desires, and once she helped them—

The energy they produced was so massive that it overpowered the energy produced from years of suppression.

This was the reason she never stopped her people from doing whatever they wanted.

This was the reason... she, the Infinity of Light, a being who strengthened from ’good’, never cared about it in the first place.

"But there were too many recordings."

Lord Light, on the other hand, spoke in a grave voice.

"It was a storm, a storm so overwhelming that it overwhelmed our forces. Even if we gathered the recordings and cleaned the evidence, four more cases would come to light.

It was impossible to completely suppress it, not unless we use force and threaten the people, but that would... only result in something even worse."

Lord Light then looked at Seraphielle with a hesitant look on his face and his gaze flickered—

"There is only one way to contain everything without ruining it."

He spoke directly and Seraphielle—

The Infinity of Light narrowed her eyes, already knowing what her subordinate was about to say.

"You want me to address the Universe again."

And Lord Light... lowered his head.

"Yes."

And the moment he said those words, the air in the temple trembled.

Seraphielle’s expression did not change, but a section of marble near the stage formed a thin crack, then another, as if the Temple itself was reacting to the Light Infinity’s irritation.

Clearly, she did not like the idea.

"I already addressed them."

Seraphielle spoke calmly, completely contrary to how the temple was portraying her emotions.

"Yes."

Lord Light nodded.

"And it had impact."

It obviously did; the entire Universe came together to stand behind her, even beings from other Factions looked tempted to join her.

That was simply how strong a charm and authority the Infinity of Light held.

It reminded the entire Universe that Light in itself was... power.

That it was absolute.

But...

Doing it again would... mean something else.

Yes, Seraphielle’s appearance would make a difference like it did before, it always would.

But...

The more she appears, the more... familiar she becomes.

And familiarity was... poison to divinity.

If Seraphielle appeared every single time the Anomaly did something, the mortals would... get used to her.

And if mortals grew used to you, they would stop trembling.

And when they stop trembling,

Faith would thin. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Light’s Authority would diminish.

And the balance between the Infinities would shift.

Seraphielle could not allow that.

She could not ’respond’ to all of Anomaly’s little provocations.

She liked to exist above.

Above all these problems, above all... existence.

Lord Light saw her silence, he knew what his goddess was thinking, and he... he spoke carefully.

"Lady Seraphielle, if you do not speak...

Then others will speak for us."

Seraphielle frowned, for the first time since it began.

Crack

A thin crack ran up the side of a pillar, widening like a vein.

Lord Light kept his face calm, but inside, he felt the helplessness creep again.

Then Seraphielle’s gaze fell on him fully.

After all, with how quickly the talks were growing, there were next to no signs of suppression—in fact, it looked like the Infinities were trying to actively promote these recordings.
