The room was deathly silent.
But this time, it wasn’t the silence that came with grief, it was silence filled with hope.
Every woman present stared at the thread of shadow stretched upward. Shadow continued to sense more and more worlds being devoured at a rate so quick that for a moment, it felt like this was the end of the Universe.
The resources they had saved for the children were already emptied out at this point and... other worlds were being devoured.
But...
Not a single world that carried life was affected.
And that reassured Shadow.
If it were any being other than Nux, he would have devoured any world he wanted, life wouldn’t matter to him.
But Nux was only targeting lifeless worlds, worlds he had either saved up in the name of resources for his children and the Universe’s growth, and the worlds he had set aside as Stars—Worlds that he usually used just so he could use their Energy in battle, giving him a nearly endless supply of energy.
He was devouring them all.
He was devouring so much that for a moment, Shadow looked worried.
"He is using too much..."
She muttered in a low voice.
"How much?"
Vyriana narrowed her eyes.
"Nearly half is gone and he isn’t slowing down."
Shadow answered.
Hearing those words, Astaria tightened her grip around her sword, looking at the rising thread of shadow with a cautious look on her face.
As more worlds were devoured, what seemed like a mere thread began to change, it began taking a shape.
"Is that... a spine...?"
Thyra narrowed her eyes.
"Yes."
Rune nodded.
More and more shadow gathered.
Spine.
Ribs.
Shoulders.
A skull.
A body was forming.
A body that had a nearly identical frame as Nux’s.
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE
The Universe trembled again.
Then something else began to happen.
"What’s happening?"
Felberta questioned as she noticed the look in Shadow’s eyes.
"A few worlds are being emptied out."
"Emptied out?"
"The people there are being sent to other worlds."
"And those empty worlds..."
Felberta narrowed her eyes and Shadow nodded.
"They are being devoured."
"Empty out more worlds.
Put them all in Umbrasol if we have to."
That was when Amaya instructed.
Shadow turned towards her, a little taken aback.
Really?
That would break their Universe’s entire structure.
Umbrasol’s peace would disappear. Of course, that peace didn’t matter right now, not to them.
But the real issue was that...
They... didn’t even know if it was actually Nux...
What if the real reason the Worlds with life weren’t being devoured wasn’t that Nux didn’t wish to harm life, but because the devourer couldn’t actually devour those worlds for some reason?
Should they... really hand their Universe over to someone on a silver platter just because they thought it was Nux...?
And Amaya didn’t need long to know exactly what Shadow was thinking.
"I said do it."
She spoke, in a stricter tone as she looked right into Shadow’s eyes.
"You saw what happened here.
Every single one of us lost control.
That alone should be more than enough to prove that none of us are capable of surviving without him anyway.
So take the risk.
And..."
Amaya then turned back towards the body that was being formed and—
"I may not be able to sense it, but I can feel it.
It is Nux."
She spoke, her dark eyes shining with an intense light.
Hearing those words, Shadow too, looked at the half-finished body, then, a determined look appeared on her face and—
She waved her hand, the Energy of Space moved and every living being in the Universe, no matter what they were doing right now, was moved to Umbrasol and the largest three other Worlds they had.
All Four Worlds were overcrowded beyond belief. The people looked at people who had appeared out of nowhere with surprised, confused looks on their faces, their reactions even worse.
Some started fighting, armies began slaughtering people who didn’t even understand what was happening—
But for now—
Shadow didn’t care.
She only looked at the half-finished body in front of her.
Her actions seemed like they had lifted the only restriction it was facing, the speed at which the worlds were being devoured increased tenfold.
Sixty percent of the worlds were devoured.
Then seventy.
Then eighty...
And the body in front of them began to change again.
Bones formed first.
It wasn’t a simple Nux reforming his body like he usually does. Every time he did that in the past, his connection to the Universe existed, his Soul existed, even his body existed.
Yes, even when Nux was killed, what died was never his true body.
So every time he died, all he needed to do was return to the Universe and create another projection.
Now his Soul was erased, he was no longer connected to his Universe and his True Body was no longer... his.
