“SpicyBurger: Furthermore, all those who took their side earlier, along with every member of Nightfall, are now permanently blacklisted. No trades shall be extended to them ever again.”
Riley’s reply was short and brutal.
No defense, no polite explanations–just straight–up aggression.
She’d originally thought about adding that anyone from Nightfall better watch their backs, or she’d take every last one of them down. But she held back. Talking too tough often just rubbed people the wrong way. Better to let actions speak later.
InvincibleWarrior, Nightfall… none of them were getting off the hook.
As soon as she posted that, InvincibleWarrior clearly choked up. He didn’t type a word for a long time.
But what embarrassed him even more was how the market reacted.
The second after Riley’s message went up…
“System Alert: Trade completed. Received: Basic Enchanted Stone x1
“System Alert: Trade completed. Received: Torn Treasure Map x1
“System Alert: Trade completed…”
The last three vests were gone in a flash.
Everyone who’d been on the fence–or even joining in to complain about the price–panicked the moment they saw the stock hit zero.
“No way! Sold out already?!”
“Boss, my bad! I shouldn’t have listened to that Warrior guy’s crap! You got any more? l’ti double the fee!”
“Please, make another one! I’m literally freezing here!”
“Hey InvincibleWarrior, shut it! You’ve got a guild feeding you–you don’t know what it’s like for the rest of us just trying to stay alive!”
Public opinion flipped in an instant.
When it came down to survival, things like “morality” or “fairness” didn’t stand a chance against a warm coat. Seeing how things were going, InvincibleWarrior slunk away and stayed quiet, not daring to show his face again, Riley looked over the pile of rare materials and gear that had popped into her inventory, then closed the chat

“Fair–weather friends, she murmured, shaking her head. “But… thanks to that clown, the scarcity play worked perfectly.”
After that showdown, her standing on the server was stronger than ever. Everyone knew now: SpicyBurger’s stuff was expensive, but it was solid. And if you could pay, she’d actually deal with you. Her gear even came with special modifiers, making it way better than most of the junk floating around.
That was all that mattered.
“Ding-”
A private message popped up.
It was from PineappleBeer.
“PineappleBeer: That was a pretty savage clapback.”
“SpicyBurger: Just some troll. What’s your situation looking like?”
“PineappleBeer: Not great. I’ve got a feeling… the server merge might happen sooner than we thought.
“PineappleBeer: Get ready. Tonight’s storm might just be the opening act.”
“Sooner?”
Even after closing that round of trades, Riley didn’t feel as relaxed as she seemed.
That InvincibleWarrior guy making such a scene–it probably wasn’t just hot air. Felt more like a signal. Nightfall had been lying low for days, and right before the server merge, some outer member starts stirring up drama? They were definitely planning something.
“Whatever they’re up to, just don’t get in my way.”
Riley scoffed softly and closed the chat.
Night deepened.
She went through her usual routine: checked all the doors and windows, made sure the Hawk–Eye Surveillance was running smooth, tossed two more pieces of long–burn smokeless coal into the fireplace, and finally crawled under her warm blankets.
Neeko had already shifted back into a little white cat, curled up on the pillow beside her, breathing softly in sleep. But Riley slept poorly that night. A low, steady dread hung in her chest.
She had no idea how long she’d been unconscious when a series of buzzing pangs jolted her awake, and her eyes flew open at once.

Her tablet lay on the nightstand, now flashing with a frantic red alert. The vibration sounded harsh and urgent in the quiet of the bedroom.
“Alert! Alert!
“Large number of moving targets detected approaching territory perimeter!
“Breach detected…!”
