It’s you two!!the bald guyyelled. Guild leader! Those are the ones that SpicyBurger! And that other woman! Back in the dungeon, they’re the reason everything went to shit for us!!

If looks could kill, the bald guy’s stare would’ve sliced Riley into a thousand pieces. Because of those two, he’d lost face in the dungeon, then come back emptyhanded without the Guild Card, and the guild leader had made his life a living hell ever since.

Shut your mouth, you useless piece of trash.

Nightshade slowly pushed himself up from his throne. He looked down at Riley from above. Behind that mask, his eyes weren’t scared at alljust pure, unfiltered crazy.

You had a way out, but you just had to walk right into the fireNightshade’s voice came out hoarse and low, with this weird echo to it, like it was seeping out of the walls from every direction at once. Since you’re here, you’re gonna leave your flesh and blood behind. My Godfall Ritualstill needs two strong souls for the sacrifice.

He wasn’t even done talking before he raised his bone staff and slammed it hard against the ground.

Thud.

A green shockwave, visible to the naked eye, rippled outward from him.

Keep them busy. Let me finish the ritual.

ROAR!

The bald guy got the order. He was terrified, sure, but he was even more scared of what Nightshade would do to him if he didn’t follow through. So he let out a battle cry to hype himself up. The Crimson Oath Pauldronon him flared bright red, which meant he’d popped some kind of burst skill.

You bitch! I’m level ten now! Time to die!

The bald guy raised his giant axe and charged forward, with a few elite melee fighters right behind him.

Meanwhile, in the back row, three ranged players with crossbows and staffs started casting and taking aim.

Leave the ranged guys to me. Don’t worry about em.

PineappleBeer vanished on the spot.

A second later, the whole fight split apart.

With PineappleBeer watching her back, Riley ignored the small fries. Her eyes locked onto the bald guy charging at

the front.

Her Strider’s Knee Padsflickered once.

The floor tiles cracked right under Riley’s feet. She bolted straight toward the bald guy’s axe.

You looking to die? You wanna go headtohead? I’ve got twenty points in Strength now!

The bald guy was thrilled. A nasty grin spread across his face as he swung his axe in a wide arc, ready to cut this clueless woman clean in half.

But then-

Right when the two weapons were about to connect, Riley twisted her wrist in a weird, unnatural way. Her left- hand axe, the Storm Splitter Axe, didn’t block at all. Instead, she used the curve of the blade to hook onto the shaft of the bald guy’s big axe.

What the-?!

The bald guy felt this insane, unstoppable force yank his weapon off course. His giant axe slammed into the floor right next to them, sending sparks flying

His entire front was wide open.

Twenty points in Strength? You think that’s a lot?

Riley’s cold voice whispered right into his ear.

Riley was level ten now too, and her Strength was a terrifying thirtythree points.

Her right axe was already midswing.

Thud-!!

AAAAHHHH!!

A flash of blue axe blade. The bald guy let out a horrible scream. The arm that had been holding his axe was severed clean off at the shoulder. Blood sprayed out like a geyser.

No way

The bald guy staggered backward, clutching the stump where his arm used to be. His eyes couldn’t process what had just happened. That red shoulder armor of his was still flickering, trying to heal the wound, but against that kind of raw power, all his fancy gear meant nothing.

This is the best Nightfall has to offer?

Riley didn’t let up. She stepped forward and crossed her axes.

Next time around, don’t be somebody’s lapdog.

Crunch!

The two axes closed in like a pair of scissors.

The bald guy’s scarcovered head flew up into the air. His face still had that same look of pure terror and confusion frozen on it.

One shot. One kill.

The few elite melee fighters who’d been about to rush in saw their vice leader get chopped up in a single move. They panicked. Their legs went weak. None of them could take another step forward.

At the same time-

The back line was getting wrecked just as badly.
