Chapter 169 Field Testing
“True” Tartking nodded.
“Hehe, and check this out!”
TartKing conjured another ball of light and tossed it at Riley.
“Lesser Heal!”
The light sank into Riley’s body.
Since Riley was at full health, no green numbers popped up.
But Ri ey felt a surge of warmth flowing through her limbs, almost like she’d just stepped into a hot bath.
“How was it?” TartKing asked expectantly. “Feel anything?”

“It’s…” Riley rubbed her stomach with a strange expression. “It’s like having a bowl of hot mutton soup. I feel all warm inside.”
M
“Uh, that’s a very… ‘you‘ way of describing it, Riley. Now I kind of want some soup too. Imagine being back in the wastes, sitting by the fire with a bowl of hot soup. Pure bliss.”
Riley’s Warrior class didn’t offer anything flashy; it was just a raw increase in numbers. After spending some time studying the Priest class with TartKing, the two slowly left the basin and began heading back the way they came.
After all, PineappleBeer was supposed to arrive nearby today, and the three of them needed to regroup.
Riley pulled out the magic map they’d traded for earlier, selecting the Deadwood Grove and setting a waypoint.
With just two short–range teleports/pings, the map’s remaining charges were down to less than half. No wonder those guys were willing to trade it; it was a useful tool, but far from game–breaking.
They trekked through the Crystal Rainforest. Riley led the way, her “Storm Splitter Dual Axes” hanging loosely at her sides, her steps light.
“Riley, ten o’clock. There’s movement in the bushes.”
TartKing followed behind, a ball of white light constantly swirling in her palm.
After becoming a Priest, her Spirit and Perception stats had taken a leap forward.
“I see it.”
Riley didn’t even turn her head or change her pace.
“Hiss-
With a sharp screech, a three–yard–long Corrupted Shadow Panther (Lv. 11) lunged from the brush. It was incredibly fast, its black fur making it nearly invisible in the dark woods. Its claws shimmered with a toxic green light as it aimed for Riley’s throat.
Previously, against a high–agility assassin mob like this, Riley would have blocked the first hit with her axes before counter-

But with her Agility and weapon proficiency boosted, the “frame rate” of the battle seemed to have changed.
The moment the panther was half a meter away, Riley’s body leaned slightly to the right in a way that looked almost unnatural.
The panther’s claws grazed her clothes, missing by hair.
At the same time, the light in Tartking’s hand flared as she cast a buff on Riley.
Then, Riley’s right wrist flicked with incredible fluidity. The axe blade carved an upward arc through the air.
A sudden flash of light erupted from the blade.
Power Strike activated.
Squelch-!
The panther, still mid–air, caught the “uppercut” the beast in one hit.

The moment it hit the ground, Riley spun around, slamming both axes into its body.

The sheer momentum sent the panther flying three meters back, where it slammed into a crystal tree and dissolved into white light.
“Killed Lv. 11 Corrupted Shadow Panther.”
“Obtained Experience: 50.”
A total solo kill.
And it was effortless.
“This feel…”
Riley looked at her palm.
The +3 to all attributes wasn’t just about damage; it was about coordination.
That “Oneness with the Axe” feelin
made every movement feel fluid and natural.
“Woah! Riley, that was so cool!”
Tartking clapped from behind. “There was an actual light effect on that swing! Was that a class skill?”
“Yeah. Low cost, 10–second cooldown. Very practical.”
“Hehe, I just realized something. Before, I had to actually hit the mob to get XP. But now, as long as I buff you, I get a share of the
kill!”
“Perfect. Let’s find some higher–level mobs on the way back and grind some XP.”
“Hell yeah!”

Riley’s suggestion was exactly what Tartking wanted to hear. She’d been too shy to ask Riley to power–level her.
TartKing pulled out several different types of desserts from her bag.
“Riley, this one is for temporary Strength, this one for Agility, and this one for Stamina. Let’s stack every buff we have.”
“Alright. Let’s make the most of them while they last

Riley looked at her long list of active buffs, a flash of excitement in her eyes. For the monsters of this forest, however, this was very
bad news.
