The moment Riley yanked her dual axes from the skull of a Shadow Direbear, she felt a sudden shift in the air.
The wind had stopped.
The bone–chilling cold that had dominated the area was rapidly receding.
“Wait.”
Riley looked up.
The thick, suffocating black mist was thinning out right before her eyes,
It looked like ink being washed away by water, fading until the world behind it was finally visible again.
The silhouettes of the trees sharpened.
But the most breathtaking sight was the sky above.
The oppressive, pitch–black ceiling that had hung over them for a day and a night was retreating like a tide.
In its place was a starlit sky so brilliant it was almost surreal.
There were no clouds, no fog.
Only a sea of diamond–like stars scattered across a deep navy sky, with a river of the Milky Way stretching across the horizon.
“Is the Long Night over?”
TartKing stared at the sky, her voice a hushed whisper.
Even though it was seven in the evening–still technically night.
This starlight felt warmer and more welcoming than literal sunshine.
Beneath the glittering galaxy, the suffocating mist finally vanished completely.
The forest returned to its natural dark green; it was still cold, but that malevolent, predatory aura was
gone.
“System: The world event ‘The Long Night‘ has concluded.”
“Congratulations to all surviving players; you have overcome the darkness.”
“Instance Beast Forest‘ will close in 24 hours. Please expedite your exploration.”
“Final Phase Initiated: Hunting Hour.”

“Rule changes are as follows:”
+10 Free Cons
“Full Map Unlock: The fog of war is cleared, and mini–map functions are fully open. However, this does not mean safety. All player coordinates will appear as red dots on the map, shifting from blurry to clear over time (Refreshes hourly).”
“Communication Restored: Region Channel upgraded to ‘Instance Global Channel‘. All survivors can communicate freely. Note: Friend lists and private messaging remain locked.”
“Treasure Marking: Based on the total value of items acquired (including mob drops, gathering, and looting), the system will assign players different colored Halo Markers.”
“Settlement Preview: Ranking will be based on the final value of items held when the instance closes. Massive rewards await.”
“System: In these final 24 hours, only those who stay alive have the right to take it all.”
“What kind of crap is this? Hunting Hour? The system is literally forcing us to kill each other!” TartKing grumbled after reading the prompts.
BigMountain looked equally shocked, but before he could comment, a gasp erupted from beside them.
“Woah! Riley! Pineapple Beer! You guys… you’re on fire?!”
TartKing pointed at Riley and Pineapple Beer, her eyes wide with shock.
Everyone instinctively turned to look.
Riley, who usually preferred to keep a low profile, was now erupting with a brilliant, steady golden light.
She wasn’t the only one.
PineappleBeer was the same. Though her glow was a tiny bit dimmer than Riley’s, it was still a pure, high- end gold. Standing together, they looked like two living statues of solid gold.
PineappleBeer stared at her glowing palms, her lip twitching. “The system really doesn’t want anyone to miss us, does it?”
Riley stared at her new “skin” with a blank face, mentally cursing the developer’s entire family tree.
She was used to getting rich in silence; being forced into the spotlight like this was more painful than getting hit by a mob.
“You guys aren’t exactly stealthy either…”
Riley pointed at the others.
BigMountain, ToxicReaper, Nobody, and even TartKing.

They were all glowing too.
Not gold, but a vibrant purple.

ToxicReaper looked at his purple glow and gave a hollow laugh. “Great. As long as you aren’t blind, you can see us mobile treasure chests from half a mile away.”
“I really wish I could actually turn invisible now,” Nobody said, shrinking into herself.
Riley opened the newly unlocked forest map.
The once–black parchment was now buzzing with countless red dots.
Most of them were still blurry, showing only a general radius, but the headcount was chilling.
“Current Survivors: 4,265/10,000.”
“More than half are gone…”
BigMountain sucked in a breath of cold air. “A full ten thousand people, and this is all that’s left.”
Riley narrowed her eyes and tapped on the new “Instance Global Channel“.
The chat was already exploding.
“Random_Joe: Hahaha! I’m alive! I literally lived in a swamp until I turned into a prune! I made it!”
“Berserker_Z: What is with this stupid halo?! I only picked up a few rocks, why am I glowing blue? I look like a neon sign! How am I supposed to hide?!”
