Chapter 247 The Feign Death
PineappleBeer stowed her blade and walked to Riley, reaching out to brush the frost off her cloak.
Glad you’re okay. I was losing my mind standing there unable to move, I owe you one!”
Whatever. I’m basically the hope of the entire team.”
Riley grinned. “If I didn’t have this gear, I wouldn’t have let you stand there in the first place.”
The two shared a quick smile.
Words were unnecessary; a single look told each exactly what the other was thinking.
Riley glanced,

As expected of Sanctuary’s main raid team, the loot boxes were lucrative despite being partial drops. Riley gathered several blue gear pieces with solid stats to dump into the Guild Vault later.
It was officially time to start outfitting her own members.
As they were cleaning up the field…
“Wait.”
Riley suddenly stopped, her eyes locking onto a specific body nearby.

“Does he have some kind of emergency save item?”
Riley signaled PineappleBeer with a tilt of her head, pointing toward the “corpse.”
PineappleBeer was a veteran; she understood the situation the moment she saw it.
A playful, dangerous smile touched her lips as she stalked toward the body,
“Well, look at that. A sentient corpse. You don’t see that every day.”
PineappleBeer reached Holy Judgement and delivered a sharp, heavy kick to his rear.
“Hey! You dead or what? Turn into a box so I can loot you already!”
The body on the ground remained motionless.
“Heh. Real stubborn, aren’t you?”
PineappleBeer let out a cold laugh, raising her war–blade high over his exposed neck.
“If you won’t turn into a box, I guess I’ll just have to chop you into pieces myself!”
The blade whistled through the air as it began its descent.
Just as the edge was less than half an inch from his throat…
“Wait! Wait! Mercy! Have mercy!!”

The supposedly dead Vice–President bolted upright like a jump–scare in a horror movie. He scrambled backward through the snow, his face a mask of pure terror and humiliation.
“I’m alive! I’m alive! Please don’t kill me!”
Seeing the man who had been barking orders like a king now begging like a dog, both girls felt pure disgust.
“Not a bad skill.”
Riley walked over with her axe over her shoulder, looking down at him. “Feign Death? Or some high–end item? Tricking the system’s death flag is pretty advanced.”
Holy_Judgement’s face was ashen.
He did have a trump card–a Substitute Doli (Consumable). It allowed him to keep 1 HP and enter a 5–minute Feign Death state.
He’d planned to crawl away while they were busy, but they were too efficient; they’d wiped his team before he could move!
“Listen… ladies… I mean, WarWolf sisters!”
Holy Judgement had officially tossed his dignity out of the window to stay alive. “I don’t want the Platinum! Really! It’s yours! It belongs to WarWolf! I’m leaving! Right now!”
PineappleBeer blinked at being called a “WarWolf sister” and looked at Riley in confusion.
Riley gave her a meaningful look, then stepped forward, pinning the man’s chest with her boot.

She tapped her axe against his cheek softly
“Oh? Now you’re scared2”
Riley’s voice was raspy and heavy with intimidation “Didn’t you want to burn bridges with us? Didn’t you want to strip my gear?
PineappleBeer caught the vibe instantly.
She realized Riley was playing a role to frame WarWolf for the crime!
How could she pass up a chance like that?
PineappleBeer adopted a vicious expression and pressed her blade against his throat.
“Riley, why waste time talking to this trash? Let’s just gut him and take the loot. WarWolf doesn’t leave survivors!*
