The other end of the thick hemp rope was tied to a wide wooden sled.

Neeko and Ash had dragged the heavy sled all the way through the snow, one walking in front and one trailing behind.
“Where have you two been running off to?” Riley walked over with a smile. She ruffled Neeko’s fluffy hat and then stroked Ash’s big head as the griffin leaned down toward her.
“We hunted for chests! We don’t need to dig dirt lately, so I took Ash out to find treasure!” Neeko puffed out her small chest proudly and pointed at the sled behind her. “Look, Riley! Ash and I found so many chests over there!”
Riley followed her gaze.
Six bronze treasure chests lined up neatly on the simple wooden sled, each one glowing with a faint bronze shimmer.

“You did amazing, Neeko.” Riley praised her without hesitation.
“Hehe. Ash flies high in the sky and spots glowing chests far away! Then I turn into Tooth and run over. I beat up all the bad monsters guarding the chests!” Neeko waved her hands wildly, mimicking a heavy striking motion. Riley couldn’t help but laugh at her cute antics.
“Who’s Tooth?” Riley asked curiously.
“Tooth is Tooth!” In an instant, Neeko shifted into a cougar. She spun in a circle before switching back into her human form.
Riley finally understood. Neeko could only transform into creatures she had once come into contact with. Those favorite forms of hers were most likely old companions that were long
gone.
Riley chose not to dig deeper. She did not want to stir up any sad memories for her.
“You and Ash both did great. What do you want for lunch today?”
“Anything! I love all food!!” Neeko’s face lit up at the mention of meals.
She was not lying. Compared to the wild berries she used to eat in the woods, every meal here felt like luxury food to her.

Riley nodded, then focused her attention on the six bronze chests. She stepped forward and opened them one by one.

Bright white flashes burst out one after another, spilling piles of supplies across the ground.
Bronze chests never dropped overpowered rare items, yet this loot was incredibly solid. The high-quality matchlock gun blueprint was especially valuable. Firearm blueprints were extremely hard to come by.
Riley sorted all the supplies with satisfaction and stored everything inside her inventory.
“Alright, go wash your hands. It’s time for lunch.”

The kitchen inside the stronghold was filled with rich midday aromas.
Thanks to the wind turbines and gas canisters, Riley’s kitchen was already semi-modernized.
On the double-burner gas stove, the left pan sizzled loudly.
Two thick marbled steak cuts lay searing on the hot surface.
Butter melted across the meat, turning the bright red steak a deep brown under high heat. The Maillard reaction released an incredibly savory meat fragrance. Riley flipped the steaks skillfully, sprinkling sea salt and black pepper to amplify the rich fatty aroma.

Chapter 320 Silent Goodbyes
Riley stared out at the dull gray sky in the distance, her tone softening a little. “That college friend of yours… Snowy, right? Did you manage to get in touch with her after we left the dungeon?”
At the sound of that name, ToxicReaper froze mid-movement. He had been fiddling with the crystal in his hands.
The excitement on his face faded away in an instant, replaced by a heavy gloom.
“She… didn’t make it out.”
ToxicReaper hung his head, his voice rough and hoarse. “I still held onto a tiny bit of hope. I thought she might’ve been waiting for me out on the snow plains after leaving the dungeon.
“I went looking for BigMountain the second I got out, but her player icon was gray. She never said another word.”
ToxicReaper took a deep breath, clearly struggling to revisit that memory. “We were so close. So damn close…
“I just watched her turn into a cold corpse, and then vanish right in front of me.”
Riley fell silent.
This was the cruel truth of the survival game.
The game system showed no mercy, no matter how heartfelt someone’s story was.
Death was just an ordinary thing in this world.
“I’m sorry
about Snowy. But we did everything we could.”
Riley reached out and patted him on the shoulder.
There were no other comforting words she could offer.
“It’s fine. It’s all in the past.” ToxicReaper wiped his face and forced out a weak smile. “Thank you, honestly. Thank you so much.
“At least the rest of us made it out alive. I’m gonna keep living for her too.”
The mood turned somber. Since they had already brought up BigMountain, Riley decided t
