These people were dressed in rags, and the coarse linen clothes they wore were practically useless against the super blizzard.

Most of them had severe frostbite on their faces, their lips purple, their eyes filled with despair, confusion, and extreme terror. A few of the weaker ones had even lost consciousness, their breathing shallow.

When Joseph saw the shivering natives, his bearded face turned beet red with emotion, and he rushed forward.

“By the Gods of Winter! Which province are you from?” Joseph shouted, rushing up to them.

The group of shell–shocked natives heard the familiar language, paused, and thep burst into stifled sobs. Some tilted their heads back, tears streaming down, convinced they had finally been saved.

Joseph rubbed his hands together nervously, grabbing a scrawny man who looked like the leader, asking a barrage of questions. “Tell me, how did you get here? What happened to our world?”

Since being saved by Riley, Joseph had started a new life at the camp, but he always held a torch for his original world and his family.

He had finally adjusted after all this time.

But seeing people from his own world again made him lose his composure.

However, facing Joseph’s rapid–fire questions, the scrawny man looked completely blank.

“What world?” the man stammered, his teeth chattering uncontrollably. “We… we don’t know. We’re just farmers from Lower River Village. We were sleeping in the barn after the wheat harvest last night, and suddenly, black snow started falling… When we opened our eyes, we were already in this godforsaken icy hellscape.”

“Yeah!” a woman wailed. “Even our village priest vanished into thin air! What kind of curse is this?!”

The excited smile on Joseph’s face froze.

He had hoped to get answers from this group, to piece together the puzzle of the truth, and maybe even find a way home.

But he realized with despair that they were just like him–sent here forcibly like trash, without any knowledge or warning.

“You really don’t know anything?” Jack stepped forward, unwilling to give up.

“No, nothing at all…” the man hung his head.

Joseph and Jack dropped their heads in defeat, sighing deeply, but they quickly remembered their duty and began distributing the hot soup and oatmeal.

Unfortunately, some of the survivors‘ specialized medical items and potions didn’t work on the natives. In the rush, a few with severe frostbite didn’t make it. The others were being treated as best they could by the medic and Neeko, and most natives stabilized after a bowl of hot soup.

Joseph turned and looked at Riley standing nearby, his expression full of bitterness. “My Lady, they… they know nothing. They are just like us, poor souls who have been abandoned.”

“I have some spare clothes left. Go to the guild warehouse, grab some excess daily necessities and portable food, and get them distributed to everyone,” Riley ordered, looking away.
