Low, scraping sounds soon drifted out from the distant tunnel.

It sounded like something dragging bone spears across the rough floor.

Hanna was the first to snap back to alertness, her voice sharp and firm. “Stop standing around! Move out!”

Bruce hoisted his shield up, locking into his frontline position.

Riley skimmed over the map’s route quickly, then handed it to NorthWind.

“You and RedBean handle navigation. Stick to the main path as much as you can, and avoid dead ends or overly cramped spots.”

Northwind took the map, his frown never fading. “This route has at least three major forks up ahead, two open fields, and one long, narrow stone bridge. The map doesn’t mark any dangers, but these are all perfect spots for monsters to ambush and block our way.”

“Can we bypass them?” Riley asked.

“We can skip a few, but it’ll add a lot of extra travel time,” NorthWind answered. “Floor 15’s monster spawns are way too aggressive right now. Taking the long way isn’t any safer.”

Riley made a quick call. “No detours. We push straight along the main path, fast as possible.”

Pineapple Beer stood nearby, still pale and worn out from the last fight. Even so, she nodded in agreement.

“Yeah. The longer we drag our feet, the worse it gets.”

TartKing just finished patching up a teammate with broken ribs. She looked up and asked, “Can we squeeze in a five-minute break? These guys have super low health and bad internal injuries. They need proper bandages to hold up.”

Riley scanned their surroundings carefully.

RedBean immediately adjusted her support plan. “We’ll split the injured into three groups. Those who can walk keep up with the main team. Anyone with limited movement stays in the middle. Critical patients stick right next to the healers. Potions and medical supplies go first to frontline fighters and anyone who took heavy damage.”

A few team members hung their heads and wiped their faces. No one argued.

They all knew the harsh truth.

If they stopped now, more people would die.

Riley lifted her Storm Splitter Dual Axes and stepped to the very front of the group.

“Let’s move.”

The team started forward again.

This time, they moved far faster than they had before getting the map.

NorthWind and RedBean guided the team steadily. They no longer sent people far ahead to scout every single fork. Pineapple Beer and LoneWolf only checked the immediate path for ambushes. Once the path was clear, the main team advanced right away without delay.

With the map to guide them, they skipped two long, unnecessary side paths and stopped getting distracted by treasure chests off the main route.

Chests popped up occasionally along the way. Riley only glanced at their position to make a quick call.

If a chest was close to the main path with few monsters nearby, they opened it.

If it was hidden far away in tricky terrain, they left it alone.

Felix’s eyes kept drifting to several unopened chests, but he forced himself to look away every time.

“I would’ve looted these without thinking twice before,” he muttered quietly.

LoneWolf walked past him and muttered in reply, “Loot one now, and you might lose the hand you’re using to grab it.”

Felix fell silent for a beat. “Fair. Not worth the risk.”

That kind of joke would’ve gotten a laugh from the team before, but no one had the heart to smile right now.

Fights kept coming nonstop as they pushed onward.

Several times, monsters charged out of side tunnels. But the team used the map to avoid fields and secure tight corner chokepoints first. Bruce’s shield team held back the initial monster rush every single time. Riley flanked in to cripple the monsters’ limbs. Hanna’s ranged team took out Crystal Thorn Bugs from a distance. PineappleBeer and LoneWolf only targeted high-priority enemies, never dragging fights out longer than necessary.

Their fighting efficiency improved a ton.
