Chapter 619 The Truth Behind the Return
Her complexion still looked rough, but her mind was fully clear
“I’ve felt this coming for a while now.”
Riley lifted her gaze to meet hers.
TartKing also stopped crying.
PineappleBeer spoke softly.

“Ever since we stepped onto Floor 15, my memories have gotten messier. Stuff! couldn’t remember before started popping up out of nowhere. And there are things I know I should recall, but every time I try, my head hurts worse.”
She paused briefly.
“I understood some of what Good said earlier.”
TartKing’s voice tightened with tension. “Understood what?”
PineappleBeer ignored the question and looked straight at Riley instead.
“I was never supposed to stay here.”
Silence settled over the room.
“I’ve always suspected there’s something on Floor 20,” PineappleBeer went on. “It might explain why I came back. It might also fill in the missing pieces of my memory. I hesitated to go before because the risk was way too high… and because all of you were here.”
She turned to TartKing, her tone dropping quieter.
“I couldn’t drag you guys into that kind of danger.”
TartKing pressed her lips together. “So you planned to go alone?”
PineappleBeer stayed quiet.
The silence was answer enough.
TartKing stood up abruptly, anger flaring in her eyes.
“Absolutely not.”
PineappleBeer shook her head gently.
“Tart, listen. Good was right. Stuck on Floor 15, I’ll keep getting pulled again and again. Instead of waiting for the next attack, I’d rather move down on my own.”
Riley fixed her with a steady look. “You plan to go alone?”
PineappleBeer dropped her gaze.

“I’m fast. I don’t draw much attention. I won’t have anyone else to look after. If I get lucky, I can reach Floor 20, finish this whole mess, and come right back”
Fresh tears welled up in TartKing’s eyes.
“And if you don’t get lucky? You have no idea what’s waiting down there”
PineappleBeer said nothing.
TartKing’s voice trembled.
“One wrong move, and you’re gone for good. Isn’t that it?”
PineappleBeer parted her lips, but only a quiet reply came out.
“Staying here doesn’t guarantee I survive either.”
TartKing harshly swiped away her tears.
“That doesn’t mean you get to run off and risk dying alone!”
Riley hadn’t spoken a word this whole time.
She was replaying Good’s words in her head.
If PineappleBeer’s strange condition was tied to Floor 20, staying on Floor 15 was never truly safe.
But charging straight down was no simple fix either.
Judging by how strong the outer Floor 15 enemies were, every higher floor would only grow more brutal. Even Riley didn’t have the confidence to fight her way to Floor 20.
On top of that, the team had just lost six members. Everyone was still recovering.
One thing was clear to Riley, though.
She was not letting PineappleBeer go alone.
She didn’t believe in fixed fate.
She only believed in changing her own destiny.
Riley lifted her head and looked straight at PineappleBeer, completely serious.
“Did you remember anything else about the place we’re heading to?”
PineappleBeer froze for a split second.
TartKing also turned to stare at her.
PineappleBeer stayed silent for a long while.
She seemed to weigh Riley’s current resolve, while digging through her fractured memories.

After a long pause, she spoke slowly.
“It was a battle, I think
Her voice was soft.
“It happened inside a huge room on Floor 20. Chaotic. Full of people.”
Riley pressed. “A room?”

“Yeah” PineappleBeer frowned. “But it wasn’t a normal room. I remember pitch-black ground, and a starry sky overhead. Like the whole space was hollowed out.”
TartKing asked anxiously, “What else?”
“Lights everywhere,” PineappleBeer said. “Skill flashes, gear glows, items, teleport portals, explosions. People fighting over something. People running for their lives. I remember being badly injured… but still alive.”
Riley kept pushing. “Anything more?”
PineappleBeer raised a hand to press her temples.
TartKing grabbed her wrist at once. “Stop if it hurts.”
PineappleBeer nodded, steadying herself before continuing.
