Chapter 626 Auction House Rivals

Chapter 626 Auction House Rivals

Some people hadn’t moved a muscle since sitting down, their hands tucked inside their cloaks.

One figure towered over the rest. No matter how loose their cloak was, the thick armored plating on their shoulders was impossible to hide.

A few rows to the right and up front sat a burly man with bid token twenty-two.

He was very muscular.

Even under the oversized gray cloak, his broad shoulders and thick torso stood out clearly. He wore the auction house’s standard black mask that covered his entire face, leaving nothing but a pair of narrowed eyes visible.

This guy had been acting sketchy long before the auction started.

While everyone else sat quietly and waited for the next lot, he’d exchanged a few quiet words with the person beside him. His voice came out muffled through the cloak, deep and gruff like a middle-aged man’s.

PineappleBeer shot them a glance and murmured, “The two beside Bidder 22 are with him.”

Riley didn’t turn her head. “You can tell?”

“One’s up front, the other’s in the back. They’re sitting apart, but every time a new item comes up, their eyes lock onto the exact same targets.”

TartKing sat up straight, instantly on guard. “So they’re here for the good stuff too?”

Riley huffed softly. “Obviously. Nobody comes here just to watch/

Up on stage, the auctioneer rapped his small silver gavel, closing another bid.

Every murmur in the hall cut out at once. All heads lifted, every gaze fixed on the stage for the next item.

“You all know the rules,” the auctioneer announced. “Anonymous bidding, highest bid wins, full payment due immediately. Once you leave the building, you’re solely responsible for protecting your purchases. We have 37 items lined up today. The first 19 are standard-grade goods. Starting with item 20, we move into the premium lineup-later items are always higher quality.”

He smiled faintly.

“Bid smart. We only guarantee safety inside this auction hall. Once you step outside, ahyone can target your valuable loot.”

A few people let out quiet chuckles, because they caught the underlying warning.

“The premium round is now starting. I encourage everyone to bid actively and don’t miss out on what you need.” The auctioneer clapped once and stepped offstage with a smile.

The 20th item was wheeled out shortly after.

It was a set of ten advanced repair stones.

It was useful, but nothing special. It started at 800 Frost Tokens and finally sold for 3,200.

Riley’s group didn’t bother bidding at all.

The auction continued.

Next up was a Cold Compression Furnace, It heated up areas rapidly in frigid snowfield terrain, worked perfectly for overnight team camps in the wilderness, and was reusable.

Multiple snowfield-zone survivors fought hard over it. The burly man with token twenty-two placed one bid, but dropped out as soon as the price hit three thousand.

The twenty-third item was a pair of purple heavy-duty knee bracers. They granted massive constitution bonuses and reduced knee impact recoil when charging forward.

Starting bid: one thousand Frost Tokens.

Bidder 22 raised his token instantly.

“Fifteen hundred.”

Someone else countered right away. “Eighteen hundred.”

“Twenty-three hundred.” The burly man raised his bid without hesitation.

The other bidder hesitated and backed off.

The auctioneer slammed the gavel down.

“Sold to Bidder 22 for twenty-three hundred.”

The burly man leaned back in his seat, obviously pleased with the win.

A set of Blast.Rune Spikes came up next.

If Felix had been there, he would’ve been kicking himself over missing these.

These spikes could be pre-planted in the ground or wall cracks. When triggered, they unleashed a compact but powerfu shockwave. They were ideal for blocking paths, shoving enemies back, and breaking incoming enemy charges.

Riley raised her bid token.

‘Eight hundred.”

Someone matched the bid up to one thousand.

Riley bumped it up to eleven hundred.

No one else contested the price this time.

TartKing glanced over at her. “We’re grabbing these?”

Riley nodded. “We’ll be running with a smaller team soon. Pre-set combat traps are super valuable for us.”

PineappleBeer agreed. “They’ll be perfect for dealing with pursuers.”

The auctioneer finalized the sale, logging the Blast.Rune Spikes under Bidder 37.

The twenty-fifth item was a set of Rime.Halt Spikes:

The auctioneer kept his explanation brief. “Six purple-grade consumable spikes. When thrown, they create a small frost binding zone. They slow regular enemies, with reduced effectiveness against large targets. Excellent for creating distance and shaking off pursuit. Starting bid: 1,200 Frost Tokens.”

Before Riley could lift her token, PineappleBeer shot her a quick look.
