The gray rune token from Good was clipped inside Riley’s clothes, pressed right against her skin. It had grown slightly warm when she approached the portal earlier. It wasn’t hot enough to burn, but the faint warmth was noticeable.
TartKing touched the tiny token hidden in her own outfit and muttered, “This little trinket from Good is actually useful.”
PineappleBeer said nothing.
Her eyes swept over the portal, not lingering for even a second.
Riley glanced at her two teammates.
“Stick to the plan we talked about yesterday once we go in.”
TartKing rattled off the rules from memory. “Don’t clear random mobs, don’t seize resource nodes, don’t pick fights with other survivors, don’t rescue random teams, and don’t drag out fights. Our only goal is to open chests, find the map, and head straight for the central safe hall.”
Pineapple Beer added a quick note. “If we run into weird terrain, listen to me first.”
“Got it!” TartKing nodded quickly. “If Pine says go left, I’ll never dare go right.”
Riley stepped forward into the portal.
“Let’s move.”
A weightless sensation washed up from the soles of their feet.
Dark light swallowed all three of them at once.

This portal transition took previous one.
The wind howled in their ears, mixed with faint, distant sounds like stone being struck far away. Riley tightened her grip on her axe handles. Right before her feet touched solid ground, Good’s rune token suddenly flared hot for a split second.
She didn’t get the chance to warn anyone before they landed.
“Everyone alright?”
Pineapple Beer’s voice rang out at the exact same time.
Riley opened her eyes.
Floor 16 hadn’t split their team up.
The three of them landed on a crumbling stone street,

Cracked, dark gray stone slabs paved the ground beneath their feet. On both sides stood half-collapsed building walls of varying heights. Broken iron bars still clung to some empty window frames. No sky was visible in the distance, only a low, gloomy gray dome hanging overhead. Thin white flickers occasionally sparked across the dome, looking like lightning splitting through cracks.
Wind drifted through the empty alleyways, carrying a faint, wailing whistle.
Right after landing, TartKing subconsciously stepped half a step behind Riley, her staff already lit up with faint glow.
“This floor looks like a total ruined city.”
PineappleBeer crouched down and brushed her fingers across the stone surface, picking up a thin layer of gray dust.
“People have been through here recently.”
Riley shot her a questioning look.
PineappleBeer nodded toward the path ahead.
Faint footprints marked the dust, leading toward an alley up front on the left. The tracks were messy, belonging to at most three or four people. There was also a distinct dragging trail in the grime.
TartKing’s casual expression faded.
Floor 16 played by totally different rules from the outer zones of Floor 15, where teams of sixty or seventy players could brute-force their way forward.
The more people in your party here, the more mobs spawned, and the heavier the overall pressure became.
Anyone who made it this far knew that rule well.
Nearly all players who dared descend further traveled in small teams, or even solo. Fewer people meant less aggro, so they wouldn’t pull the floor’s entire monster population onto them. Still, small squads had their own flaws-very little room for error. If they got surrounded, there was no one left to back them up.
Riley’s trio fell right into this category.
They were strong, but they couldn’t afford too many mistakes.
Pineapple Beer stood up, her Shadow Gap Ring flickering faintly.
“I’ll scout ten yards ahead, no more than twenty. Stay tight on my tail.”
Riley nodded in agreement.
“Avoid all mobs if we can.”
TartKing gripped her firmly. “I’ll keep an eye out for chests and monitor everyone’s HP

Tart King’s eyes lit up briefly before she toned down her excitement. “Got it. I’m just the chest-opening tool.”
PineappleBeer glanced back at her. “You’re not a tool.”
TartKing was just starting to feel touched when Pineapple Beer finished her sentence. “You’re just the designated chest opener.”
TartKing fell momentarily speechless.
A faint tug at the corner of Riley’s mouth eased the tense atmosphere a little.
The three of them advanced steadily down the stone street.
Monsters on Floor 16 almost never patrolled alone out in the open.
