Chapter 676 Frozen Survivors
TartKing tossed a small heat over her and layered a thin protective shield on top.
“Nothing about this place makes sense.”
Riley shook out her sore hand.
When they rounded the next corner, they saw their first frozen survivor.
The man was locked mid–escape, caught in the exact moment he’d tried to run for his life.
His face was twisted with pure terror, and his gear was torn to shreds. One hand stretched forward like he was grabbing for something to hold onto, while the other pressed tight to his stomach. Tiny blooddroplets hovered mid–air, seeping out between his fingers.
His feet were just lifting off the ground.
His whole body leaned forward, frozen mid–stride.
He looked like the world had simply paused right as he fled.
TartKing froze in her tracks.
Riley stopped too.
PineappleBeer stood a few steps away, staring silently at the man for a long time.
After studying the scene carefully, Riley circled around to get a better look from the side.
A dark burn mark stretched across the man’s back, running straight from his shoulder blade down to his waist. No fresh blood flowed from the wound–everything had been frozen solid.
TartKing spoke in a quiet whisper. “Is he still alive?”
Riley watched him closely for a moment longer.
The player’s eyes didn’t move, and his chest didn’t rise or fall with breath.
“No way to tell.”
“He’s beyond saving,” PineappleBeer said flatly.
TartKing turned to glance at her.
PineappleBeer had answered too quickly, like the truth had already been set in stone long before.
TartKing didn’t argue.
They didn’t even know if they’d make it to the end themselves right now.
Further inside, more and more frozen survivors littered their path.

Two people were trapped at a broken bridge. One was twisted back, reacting to pull their teammate to safety, while the other had a silver beam piercing straight through their chest. The beam hurig frozen inside their body, like a solid, unmoving needle.
A female player lay slumped against the wall, clutching half a broken scroit in her hand. The scroll’s light had halfway burst open, frozen right before it could activate a teleport.
Her face held no fear.
Only raw, unbridled rage.
As TartKing walked past her, she couldn’t help but ask softly, “Were these people from your timeline, Pine? Or did they enter this dungeon with us?”
PineappleBeer didn’t answer right away.
She stepped over to the broken scroll and stared at it for two seconds.
“Could be either.”
Riley looked over at her.
PineappleBeer nodded toward the wall.
A fresh axe scar cut across the stone. The edges hadn’t fully settled yet, and tiny fragments drifted slowly toward the ground.
“Some of these marks are really new.”
TartKing’s face paled even more.
“So someone really has made it to Floor 20 before us.”
Riley lifted a hand and brushed the area around the axe mark, careful not to touch the drifting debris. She scanned the spot with her tactical goggles.
The goggles only spat out garbled code, same as before.
She shut them off.
“Either people got in earlier than us, or people from different timelines are getting tangled up in this space.”
The thought sent a chill crawling up TartKing’s scalp.
People from different timelines, all mixed together.
All the running and dying they were witnessing might’ve happened in a past life, a few hours ago, or even in a future that hadn’t come to pass yet.
More layered shadows pooled at PineappleBeer’s feet.
The deeper they went, the clearer the shadows became.
One shadow walked half a step ahead of her, rushing frantically toward the depths.
Another lagged far behind, hesitant to move forward at all.

Athird shadow lingered right at the edge of Riley’s shadow, gripping something indistinct in its hand.
Tartking stared at the strange layers several times before forcing her gaze away.
She was scared of saying something wrong if she watched too closely.
Riley kept leading the way, her tone steady and calm.
“Pine, lead the path.”
PineappleBeer lifted her head.
Another three–way fork stretched out in front of them.
The left path carried the low sound of wind.
The right path was filled with floating debris scattered across the ground.

In the middle stood a half–collapsed doorway. Frozen flames blazed behind it, like the entire corridor had been caught in an eternal fire…
PineappleBeer frowned at the three choices.
“Middle path.”
TartKing stared at the wall of frozen fire and took a deep breath.
“Knew you’d pick the scariest one.”
PineappleBeer suddenly turned her head, her tone light and playful all at once.
“You wanna hold my hand if you’re scared?”
TartKing froze. “Huh?”
PineappleBeer held her hand out, palm facing up.
