Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1892

Conner called out, "And go listen to what Annie has to say!"

"Listen to your new godmother, too," Asher added. His predatory gaze locked onto his godson, eyes heavy with intoxication. To anyone else, the look would be terrifying, but the little sweetie feared no one in heaven or on earth, least of all his godfather. "I'm on it! I'm so busy!" Henry declared as he scurried off.

He really was busy. No matter who spoke, he would turn right around and report to the corresponding dad.

Every time Henry took a sip of his reward, the sharp burn made his little face scrunch up. Even though he wasn't used to the taste, his curiosity—inherited directly from his mother—kept him coming back for more.

Mia was the first to notice something was off. She turned her head and watched her son scurrying back and forth. The most suspicious part was that he hadn't caused any actual trouble in a while. "Henry, why are you running back and forth between the two rooms?"

Henry immediately bolted back to his dad. "Dad, Mom noticed! My cover is blown!"

"Keep your mouth shut. You know she'll swat your behind tonight if she finds out you're a little traitor," Andre warned.

Henry knew exactly what was coming. He had been disciplined for his antics plenty of times before, but he couldn't help it. The temptation today was simply too great; his dad had actually let him taste the forbidden drink.

A moment later, Mia pushed open the door to the men's private room. The dead silence inside wasn't exactly what she had expected. "Pretty quiet in here," she noted suspiciously.

She grabbed her son's little wrist and led him out. Catching a whiff of alcohol, Mia pinched his chubby cheeks, forcing his mouth into a pout, and leaned in to sniff. "Henry, did you really drink?"

Henry nervously licked his lips.

Later that night, the gathering ended, and everyone went their separate ways.

Henry was handed off to Godfather Teddy.

Teddy was more than pleased.

It was Henry's first time sleeping over at his godfather's place, and he wasn't quite used to it. He kept wanting to look for his parents, but Teddy stopped him. "Henry, stay and chat with me. If you go back now, you'll get a timeout."

Frustrated, she sat on the edge of the bed. Suddenly, Asher shifted and kicked her square in the back. If she hadn't braced herself, she would have been sent sprawling to the floor. Completely oblivious, Asher rolled over and continued snoring.

Laurel clenched her fists.

Furious, she turned and rifled through his discarded clothes, searching for his gun. She checked every pocket, but found nothing. He was keeping his guard up against her.

Ever since her capture, Laurel had never been allowed outside.

This time, he had brought her along, but not without a warning: "Play nice and save my face, and I'll consider letting you go."

Asher's promises were always half-truths.

He had once told her, "Use those same skills you used when you first approached me. Please me, and I'll let you leave the compound." She had left that room alive only because Asher knew he was her first, a fact that had immensely satisfied him.
