Cooper asked, "Are you guys fighting?"
Mia was speechless.
Molly caught a glimpse and said, "Mia, Cooper makes a fair point."
"Exactly because he makes a fair point, I have no reason to smack him," Mia replied.
Their little troublemakers were currently standing in the corner for a timeout. The two childish mothers held up their phones, shoving the cameras in their crying faces. "Henry, give Mom a peace sign."
Henry ignored his mother, continuing to sob.
Molly looked down at her own sweetie. "Wayne, give Mom a smile."
Wayne glared at his mother. With surprising speed, his little hand swatted Molly's phone, sending it clattering to the floor.
Seeing this, Molly immediately gave his little rear a swift swat.
For the first time, Wayne cried with absolute devastation. Earlier, when Uncle Andre had scolded him, he hadn't wailed nearly as loudly.
Hearing the child's heartbreaking cries, the adults rushed over. "What happened to my sweetie? Molly, did you lay a hand on my grandson?" Hansen demanded.
Molly couldn't defend herself. "Dad, I did swat him, but I barely used any force!" She had been totally thrown under the bus by her own son.
Molly stared at Wayne, who was crying harder than he ever had before. The last time he had been this upset was when she had playfully refused to give him his bottle, making him scream until his face turned red.
Hansen didn't buy it. "If you hit him lightly, would he be crying this pitifully?"
"Mia can vouch for me!" Molly protested. Whenever she and Mia teased the boys, even if they pretended to be mad and swatted them, they never had the heart to actually use any force. It didn't hurt at all.
Hansen scoffed. "Everyone knows you two are thick as thieves."
