ALWMSD: AFTER SCHOOL SEDUCTION
The afternoon sun was burning the high school parking lot. I sat in the driver’s seat of the SUV, the air conditioning humming, making me cool even though it was hot out. I was here to pick up Angel as per
her request this morning.
I kept checking my watch. And now, it was almost time. Elena was still at the office, but Angel had texted
me three times to make sure I was the one picking her up.
Then, the bell rang. A sea of teenagers poured out of the front doors, all of them shouting and laughing. My eyes scanned the crowd until I spotted her.
She was impossible to miss. She was wearing that same tiny black skirt and white shirt, her backpack slung over one shoulder. The moment she saw my car, her whole face lit up. She started running.
“Daddy!” she screamed, loud enough for a few other students to turn their heads.
I stepped out of the car, smiling. She reached the car and threw herself into my arms. She hugged me so tight I could feel the heat of her body through my clothes.
“Thank you for coming, Daddy! I’ve been waiting for this all day.”
“Of course, Angel,” I whispered, patting her back and trying to look like a normal, concerned parent. “How
was school? Did you focus on your work?”
“Oh, I focused,” she said, pulling back and giving me a look that made my stomach flip. “Thanks to your lesson this morning, I didn’t feel any distraction all day.”
“That’s nice,” I said, smiling. “Let’s go.”
We got into the car as she hopped into the front passenger seat, tossing her bag into the back. As I pulled out of the parking lot and onto the main road, the silence in the car became heavy. It wasn’t a peaceful silence; it was the kind of silence that happens right before a storm.
“It’s so hot in here, Daddy,” Angel complained.
“The AC is on full blast, Angel,” I said, keeping my eyes on the road.
“It’s not enough,” she murmured.
