TABOO:BATION — 50 SHADES OF FORBIDDEN SHORTS novel Chapter 21

ALWMSD: Caught!

The heavy metallic clack of the officer’s ring hitting the window felt like a gunshot in the small car.

I froze, my heart stopping mid–beat.

The officer leaned down. He was a big man, his shoulders broad in his tan uniform. Through the dark tint, I could only see the reflection of my own panicked face in his silver aviator sunglasses. He gestured again: roll it down.

“Stay down,” I hissed to Angel. I scrambled to pull my sweatpants up, my hands shaking so hard I could barely find the zipper. Angel pulled her skirt over her hips, her face now white with fear and her eyes wide as she huddled against the door.

I cracked the window just an inch. The hot air of the bridge rushed in, along with the sound of rushing traffic.

“Sir?” The officer’s voice was deep, a low rumble of authority. “I saw this vehicle stop suddenly. You’re obstructing a public roadway. Is there a medical emergency?”

I swallowed hard, my throat feeling like it was full of sand. “No, Officer. I… I just had a bit of car trouble. A sensor light went off. I’m sorry.”

The officer didn’t move. He leaned closer to the glass, his nose almost touching the tint. He wasn’t stupid. He could smell the sex in the car–the heavy, musk–filled air that we had just created. He could see the way I was breathing, the way my chest was heaving. Slowly, he reached out and pushed the window down further with his gloved hand. 1

His gaze moved from me to my side, where Angel was trying to hide. He saw her bare legs, her flushed skin, and the messy state of the leather. A slow, dark smile spread across his face. He didn’t reach for his radio. He didn’t reach for his handcuffs. Instead, he took off his sunglasses, revealing eyes that were sharp and full of a wicked intelligence.

“Car trouble, huh?” he asked. He looked at me, then back at Angel. “You look like a smart man, sir…?” He trailed off, the last word a question that required my answer.

“Mark,” I completed.

“Mark. And this… this is a very beautiful girl. I think we both know that car trouble isn’t why you’re stopped in the middle of my bridge.”

I felt my blood turn to ice. “Officer, please. I can explain. I-”

“I don’t need an explanation,” he interrupted. He looked at Angel, his eyes scanning her up and down.” What I need is to make sure this ‘student‘ is being treated fairly. You see, a public indecency charge… it can ruin your life. Your career, her future, and… maybe your marriage, Sir Mark? And guess what? It happens in one phone call.” 2

He paused, letting the threat hang in the air. The silence was deafening.

“However,” he continued, his voice dropping to a whisper. “I’m a man who appreciates a good lesson. And I think you still have a lot to learn about sharing, Mr. Mark.”

My jaw dropped. I think I was understanding what this man was meaning to say. I looked at Angel; she was staring at the officer, her fear slowly being replaced by a strange, dark curiosity.
