Caught

She wasn’t sure how she would ever be able to thank

the housekeeper who helped her escape but, she vowed somehow, she would find a way to repay her. The housekeeper risked her life getting into an elevator with a mobster while she hid the person they searched for in the cart. Genesis didn’t know very many people who would do such things for a stranger. She then got her changed into a housekeeping uniform, put a hat and sunglasses on her and walked with her arm and arm out of the staff exit, chatting loudly in Spanish all the way to the staff parking lot where they waved goodbyes as if old friends.

Getting on the bus a block from the hotel was easier than she’d anticipated, and she’d taken six different busses before she’d finally reached a small strip mall. At the mall, she bought a new phone from which she would call her best friend and the only person she trusted in this world later. She also grabbed some hair dye, make up which didn’t suit her at all and a pair of thick black rimmed fashion glasses. Those with the new hat she bought were going to help her when she boarded the train later for destination unknown.

rolling, she needed the food to keep her going since she didn’t know when she’d be able to stop again. Taking a last

sip of her soda, she was about to stand to put her trash in the bin when a pair of black shoes stopped in her peripheral

vision.

The scraping of the metal chair on the tile floor crawled up her spine. “Hello wife.”

She looked up into the blue eyes she’d been unable to forget

and wondered if lightening not striking twice was a myth

because looking into his eyes again for the first time felt like

a jolt of electricity. Damn him for being a gorgeous chunk of

genetic material.

“Kiefer,” she lifted her chin. “What do you want?”

“Where you off to?” he asked casually, his accent floating between them as he lifted her bag off the chair next to her and started rummaging through it. He held up the black hair dye. “Not your color. I much prefer the light brown of your hair as it is.”

She refused to answer and instead shook the cup with the few ice cubes left in it and then sucked on the straw looking away from him and checking out the area. She counted at

Tadgh a smirk. Fucker lost her once. It was going to happen a second time.

“A ghrá,” he spoke to her softly, “you look tired. Surely running in circles for the last six hours was exhausting. Come with me quietly back to my hotel suite and we’ll talk.”

“I’d rather die.” She spoke around the straw in her mouth.

“I can make it happen.”

“Then do it because I’m not leaving here with you willingly. In fact, in about ten seconds, I’m going to start screaming the place down like I’m being murdered.”

“Nobody will come to help you.”

“No. They won’t but at least one of them will remember when my friend reports me missing later and I end up on the news as a missing person. If I don’t call her at a set time, she calls it in. A reward will get offered for me and my screaming like a banshee is bound to make someone come forward.” Without a second thought, she opened her mouth and began screaming as loud as she could. She could feel her vocal cords straining to the point she tasted blood, but she didn’t stop. While Kiefer was on his feet and moving to cover her Routh, she began thrashing, kicking, and biting to try to

“Jesus Christ, what is wrong with you?” he lifted her clear off the floor, flipped her over his shoulder and spanked her ass hard. “Stop it right now, Genesis, or you’re going to get more than a slap on the arse.”

“Fuck you, you are a cheating, lying man whore. Put me the fuck down! Help! Someone, help me. Help.”

“Would you stop?” he jostled her as he strode angrily out of

the mall.

“Help!” she screamed at people who were watching in the distance. “I’m being kidnapped. Help!”

“Boss, you want me to drug her?” one of the men asked as he jogged after them.

Genesis was momentarily stunned at the question, but it was

Kiefer’s response which was even more shocking. He turned,

punched the unknown man in the mouth knocking him out in

one blow and then turning and continuing on after barking orders at Tadgh to educate his fucking team.

“Help!” she started wriggling again, bracing her feet against 4/10 the edge of the door of the Escalade Kiefer was trying to

“As if it’s the worst you’re going to do to me.” She pounded on his back and then struck out at Tadgh who approached to help get her in the car. She managed to catch him on the mouth and grinned when he pulled his head back in surprise and touched his lip to find blood. “Bleed you son of a bitch. Now let me go!” she screamed again. “Help!”

She was enraged as Jerren from the inside of the vehicle grabbed her flailing feet and pulled her into the car. In

seconds between the three men, she was in a seatbelt, held down with her backpack on her lap and her bag of supplies

at her feet.

Genesis stared into Kiefer’s eyes when he gripped her chin, his fingers digging tight into her flesh.

“Listen to me, you fucking little hellcat. You have shit to answer for and you’re going to do it. Now, enough with this bullshit and get yourself together because the slap on your ass you just got is going to be the least of your punishments.”

If Aoife was here, I’d deliver her an especially wonderful fuck you. That bitch, I’d put a knife in her throat just for shits and giggles. You better hope to fuck I never see those two bitches again or I’ll end them.”

Kiefer wiped his cheek off with a handkerchief but didn’t

release her face, “what did my sister ever do to you?”

“Did you ask her? Did you ask her what happened to cause me to leave her birthday party?”

“You left because someone spilled wine on you,” Jerren kept it

neutral.

She smacked at Kiefer’s hand on her chin, “is this what they told you? They told you someone spilled wine on me?”

“Yes, and we couldn’t investigate because you came back and erased all the evidence.”

“Came back?” she faked a laugh, “I never set foot back in the place from the moment I left there the night of the party when I saw you,” she felt the tears in her eyes and was angry with herself, “and your whore grinding on each other when I went to get you to help me. Why the fuck would I go back to a house where my husband was fucking his mistress, and his sister was recording it to send it to me?”

The three men exchanged glances as if confused. She rubbed her jaw when Kiefer’s hand fell away.

“Genesis, I never fucked Laoise.” Kiefer spoke quietly.

“Whatever. As if I’d believe a word coming from your mouth.”
