Tempting The Mafia Twins (Genesis and Kiefer) novel Chapter 51

Lorcan O’Reilly-1

Two days later, Genesis was sitting in the living room alone reading a book she’d pulled from the library. Kiefer, Tadgh, Jerren, and Egan were in the theatre room watching a movie with Egan, one which Egan was excited to watch and she herself was glad not to have to sit through. She was sure she’d hear all about it for weeks to come but listening to Egan gush was better than watching the entire thing start to finish.

She caught movement at the door as a tall, broad-shouldered red-haired man walked past the door.

Lorcan O’Reilly. He’d been in town since late the night they’d gone to the aquarium before but hadn’t stopped in yet. He’d gone straight to the offices of their pharmaceutical company and then stayed at the penthouse suite there while he went through Kiefer’s scheduled meetings. She thought it was kind of him to step up so Kiefer could spend time with Egan. It was not in the realm of anything she would have expected from him. He never did strike her as a kind man.

He backpedaled, his head turning to see her in the living room alone.

“Genesis.” His voice was at least two octaves deeper than his twin sons’ and he was easily three inches taller and thicker and wider all over. He was a massive man. Apparently, he was a genetic anomaly in the family. While most of the men were big00 and strong, none in their entire family history were reportedly ever the size of Lorcan. “Welcome home. Where is Kiefer and the boy?”

“Hello Lorcan.” She nodded. “They’re watching a movie in the theatre.”

“I told you before you can call me Dad.” He moved into the room, swung his coat off and tossed it on a chair before sitting on the sofa next to her, flexing his arm along the back and stretching his feet out in front of him. “Fuck it feels good to sit down. I hit the ground running yesterday when I got here. Kiefer let everything slide this week chasing you all over the country and then spending time with Egan,” he closed his eyes and leaned his head against the back of the sofa, “I’m not complaining because he was doing as he should have been doing but it was a bit of a mess to get sorted in forty-eight hours.”

“Is it sorted?”

“It is. My father might have started this legal business but I’m the one who brought it into the success it is today. I keep a close eye on everything which happens in it. Why aren’t you watching the movie with your husband and son.”

“It’s some kind of superhero movie, I’ve watched all of them with Egan and I’ve hated every one of them, but I watched it because he’s my son and he wanted to. If I’m going to get any benefit out of having his father around, Kiefer can watch the 7:00 shitty movies I don’t want to watch.”

“Fair,” Lorcan gave a chuckle. “I saw the video from the surveillance in Burbank of you jumping Aoife.”

She clenched her fingers on the book on her lap. Was this where the truth came out and she was going to be punished? “I see.”
