Chapter 199 The Accusation
VAN
Fumaned
Isabella sat at her desk, writing at a steady, unhurried pace. She wasn’t rushing, but her rhythm was constant-barely pausing, she kept moving forward smoothly, without hesitation or breaks to think.
The proctor watched. Really? Putting on a show for me now?
Then it hit him-oh right, they were desk mates.
Remembering the rumors about Isabella and Noah, he shook his head and looked away.
As long as they weren’t causing trouble, they could do whatever they wanted during the exam- draw cartoons, doodle animals, copy song lyrics, or even just fill the page with random numbers.
With that, he turned his attention to the rest of the class.
About half an hour later, his eyes drifted back toward Isabella-only to find her asleep, head resting on her arms.
“Seriously?”
Couldn’t even keep the act up for more than thirty minutes?
What was she writing that wore her out so much?
Knocked out cold that fast?
He held back a sigh and glanced over at Noah, who was still scribbling away intently, like he was giving it everything he had this time.
Maybe he really was trying to pull his grades up.
But then the proctor remembered Noah’s… less-than-stellar track record.
Well, everyone’s allowed to dream.
At least the kid was putting in effort.
The proctor moved on, continuing his rounds.
When the bell rang, students began filing up to hand in their papers. Isabella and Noah were among the last to turn theirs in.
Noah could hardly contain his excitement.

Chapter 199 The Accusation
“Oh man, oh man… Isabella, I think I might actually pull a B this time!” he whispered, buzzing. I’m pretty sure I got most of them right! Especially the stuff we went over last night—you’re a lifesaver!
He kept muttering under his breath as he grabbed Isabella’s paper and handed both to the proctor.
The proctor barely glanced at them, placing them at the bottom of the stack before stapling everything together.
Westbrook Academy used blind grading-no names on the exams until after they were scored.
Too many kids came from connected families, and the school didn’t want any… misunderstandings.
Better for everyone this way.
Once the proctor left, Noah was still practically glowing.
All those late-night study sessions actually felt worth it now.
This time, his grades were going to be solid-no doubt about it.
He was ready to surprise everybody.
Throughout the following exams, Noah’s confidence kept growing.
Each time he opened a test booklet, he’d think “Oh wow, I know this one!” and dive right in.
Isabella had helped him prepare, but he still didn’t have every answer down pat, so he’d tackle the easy questions first, then loop back to the tough ones.
While Noah worked hard, Isabella took her time-finishing in about half an hour each round before dozing off at her desk.
Most of the teachers who noticed assumed she’d given up, and a few frowned in disapproval.
Hannah, meanwhile, had been quietly asking around about how the two were doing.
When she heard that Isabella kept falling asleep and Noah was writing nonstop like he actually knew what he was doing, her stomach dropped.
Of course. Noah’s private tutors must have drilled him on predicted questions-that’s why he looked so confident.
As for Isabella? She was hopeless. Even studying with Noah didn’t help.
