Chapter 264 The Web of Lies
He continued softly “We tried calling your phone earlier too.
Finished
“Your father told us you were busy studying and preparing for Westbrook Academy’s entrance exams, so we shouldn’t disturb you.
“Above all, he said you were finally moving past the past to build a new life, and he didn’t want us bringing up memories of your backwater upbringing.
“He claimed he wanted to wait until you settled in and adapted to city life before formally introducing you to our family and social circle.
“He argued that taking things slow would help you adjust much better.”
At this point, the burly man–Isabella’s second uncle, Garrett–smacked Isaac across the cheek again, barking, “Speak up! Isn’t that the exact garbage you fed us to keep us away from Bella?!
“Claiming she was traumatized and prone to passing out from pure panic?! Postponing her debut gala and canceling our visits under the guise of protecting her mental health, promising a better time later down the road, wasn’t it?!”
His booming roar rattled the glass across the living room.
Gritting his teeth, Isaac sat slumped on the couch with his head low, mumbling in shame, “Yes… that was what I told your guys.”
Tears streamed down Isaac’s face as he choked out the confession.
Back then, he and Daniel saw Bella as nothing but an embarrassing burden who would disgrace their
name.
So they shut down every request from her uncles to visit, making up wild lies about severe trauma.
In reality, though Bella had been startled at first in the countryside, her eyes had lit up with innocent adoration and attachment the second she learned they were family.
Isaac couldn’t comprehend what kind of madness bad possessed him back then,
If they despised Bella that much, why didn’t they let her uncles take her in and raise her?
Was he just as selfish to his core as his father, believing that since Bella was a Powell by blood, handing her to another family would wound their arrogant pride?
Clawing his fingers into his hair, Isaac buried his face in his knees.
He had no idea what kind of demonic delusion had blinded him.
How could he have harbored thoughts so twisted and cruel!
She was his flesh–and–blood sister!

Chapter 264The Web of Lies
“Why did I treat Bella like that?!
Despair and agony tore through Isaac’s chest like jagged glass.
Taking a deep breath, the eldest uncle, Julian Sinclair, spoke in a hushed tone. “We only learned the truth from Carter Group’s livestream.”
They had heard about the massive corporate showdown between Powell and Carter.
But tied down with their own affairs and unfamiliar with Carter Group, they hadn’t paid close attention initially.
Only later did they realize the entire feud revolved around Isabella.
Carter Group had gone to war with Powell Group entirely to defefid her.
Thinking Isabella might appear in Powell Group’s product launch, they carved out time to tune into the broadcast.
They expected to catch a glimpse of Isabella on Powell Group’s channel, yet she was nowhere to be seen from start to finish.
They combed through every video clip, backdrop photo, and attendee upload online, finding not a single frame of her.
