He had been about to leave when Hannah walked over.

But thinking about Isabella being there, he wanted to see how the two of them would interact, so he deliberately stuck around to watch the show.

And it turned out to be pretty interesting.

He lazily folded his hands behind his head, leaned back in his chair, and said with a faint, mocking smile, Isabella hasn’t actually done anything to offend me yet.

And here you are, already apologizing for her.

What? Hoping she’ll do something to really piss me off?

What do you have against her?

Noah was curious about the dynamic between Isabella and Hannah.

Their personalities were so differenthow could they even be sisters?

Isabella grew up in the countryside?

Now that was interesting.

A girl raised out in the middle of nowhere, with skills like that and such a dangerous presence?

And she was supposed to be an illegitimate daughter of the Powell family?

It didn’t quite add up to him.

Why did the illegitimate daughter seem to carry more weight than the legitimate one?

Noah looked at Hannah with a meaningful expression.

Hannah stammered in response, NNo, Noah, that’s not what I meant

She was about to explain when Noah lost interest. He dropped his hands, crossed his arms over his chest, and said coldly, Enough. Don’t bother explaining.

Get lost.

His expression turned cold, his gaze instantly fierce.

If he weren’t somewhat curious about Isabella, why would he even bother talking to Hannah?

All that stammering and beating around the bush, without an honest word in sight.

Noah was tired of listening.

He’d have chances to figure things out later anyway.

His attitude shifted in an instant. Hannah’s face went pale, and she didn’t dare push it. As she walked away, her fingernails were practically digging into her palms.

After she left, Noah curled his lip, swung his long legs out from under the desk, and headed off without a second glance.

Meanwhile, Isabella was walking along a shaded path toward the cafeteria.

Suddenly

Whump!

A volleyball came hurtling toward Isabella with serious force behind it.

Whoever had hit it clearly put some power into it. If Isabella didn’t dodge, she’d end up with a nasty head injury in no time.

Seeing this, Isabella’s expression didn’t change at all. She raised her hand and smacked the ball away.

Whoosh!

Backed by her strength, the ball shot forward at a fearsome speed, practically cutting through the air with a sharp gust.

It streaked across the space at an unbelievable velocity.

A moment later, several shrill cries of alarm rang out.

Then, multiple figures charged straight at Isabella, their auras fierce and hostile.

What did you do?!

Isabella! Why did you just hurt someone for no reason?!

Did you do that on purpose?!

A group of voices shrilly accused Isabella.

Leading them was the girl who had said in the classroom that Isabella wasn’t worthy of being Hannah’s

sister.

Now, she looked disheveled, with a bloody nose, furious and flustered.

Clearly, the volleyball that had just been sent flying toward Isabella had come from her.

Isabella’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Her gaze swept over Mia Bexley and the others from head to toe as she let out a cold laugh. Are you serious?

That ball came from you guys.
