Chapter 35 A Taste of Her Own Medicine
Every single word that left Isabella’s lips struck Mia right where it hurt the most.
You think a girl from the country is a soft target?
Think again, sweetheart.
I can snap all of you like twigs whenever I feel like it.

Isabella slipped her phone into her pocket with a calm expression, then turned toward the stunned committee members. “Am I free to go back to class now?
“The bell is about to ring.”
Her voice finally broke the spell, snapping the Disciplinary Committee officers out of their daze.
“Ah–right, of course, Isabella.
“Look, this is really just a minor misunderstanding between classmates.
“There’s really no need to involve the police, is there?”
Sweat was pouring down the lead officer’s face, soaking through his collar.
He had watched her call the authorities but hadn’t dared to utter a single word to stop her.
After all, Isabella had just been publicly vindicated, and their own reputations were hanging by a thread.
If she turned around and accused the faculty of conspiring with Mia to bully a rural student, they wouldn’t have a legal leg to stand on.
Even all the tea in the world wouldn’t wash their hands clean of this mess!
We are completely doomed!
How could Mia lie straight to our faces like that?!
To be fair, when the lead officer had first seen Mia’s horrific bruises, he had been genuinely filled with righteous fury.
That was the sole reason he had marched over with a squad of teachers and security guards to confront Isabella.

Had he known Isabella was innocent–and that Mia had deliberately targeted her only to get thoroughly wrecked–he wouldn’t have touched this case with a ten–foot pole.
I was just trying to protect a student, how did I end up holding the short straw?
Isabella cast a fleeting glance over at him, her voice cool. “Sir, I believe I made myself perfectly clear.
“I gave Mia plenty of chances to walk away, and she threw every single one back in my face.
“Furthermore…”
Her eyes hardened into shards of ice. “You thought Mia was a poor victim because she got hurt in an ‘accident‘.
“But what about me? Am I not a victim after being publicly defamed in front of the entire student body?
“If I couldn’t prove my innocence today, how would the administration have dealt with me?
“How would you and the other faculty members have treated me?”
She leveled a deeply mocking stare at the lead officer. “When you were barking orders on Mia’s behalf earlier, you sure seemed full of moral outrage.
“Now that the tables are turned, you expect me to just sweep it under the rug?
“Your sense of justice seems remarkably flexible when it suits
you, sir.”
Under her scathing words, the teacher’s face burned with intense embarrassment.
It was true; the moment he heard about Mia’s injury, he had rushed over to corner Isabella without a second thought.
In his subconscious mind, he had already pronounced Isabella guilty from the very start.
Simply because she was a transfer student from some rural town.
He had automatically assumed she would be uneducated, aggressive, and entirely unreasonable.
Isabella’s cutting remarks left him so thoroughly mortified that he didn’t dare open his mouth again.
Even knowing that a police investigation would stir up a massive storm and likely cost them their bonuses, none of the faculty members dared to argue.

The group of teachers kept their mouths firmly shut, terrified of being labeled as Mia’s accomplices.

With a perfectly calm expression, Isabella walked away under the awestruck gazes of the entire student body.
“Holy crap, that was bad*ss!”
“That spike was absolutely insane!”
“How does someone even get that kind of freaky grip strength?”
“Seriously! Trent Miller is on the varsity volleyball club, and his spikes aren’t even half as powerful.”
“And her precision was dead–on! Her core stability is unreal!”
